AIW Radeon & DVD trouble

I had PowerDVD installed prior to the Radeon & ATI's file. After install, the ATI DVD player would auto-run when I put a DVD in but would lock-up after a couple of seconds. PowerDVD ran for a little bit, but then would stop & give an error "powerdvd.exe caused an error in powerdvd & will be terminated". I had PowerDVD 2.5 so I upgraded it to 2.55. Same error happens. I uninstalled PowerDVD. Now, when I insert a DVD, ATI DVD comes up but nothing happens. It doesn't run the disc. I can click on play but nothing happens. It isn't locked up. I can close it out.

So, I reinstalled the ATI software (MMC, players and all), but it does the same thing. Starts up but doesn't run a DVD.

I have AMD T-Bird 800@800, WinME, 3063 ATI drivers, Directx 7.1, DirectXMedia6+, latest SB Live drivers, Via 4.24.

HELP!

Thanks,

I tried to run WinDVD 1.2.87 last night. It ran for awhile but then it too caused an error & shut down. Anybody have an idea to try?
Thanks.

I got the same error message, I had the full version of PowerDVD 2.5 install from a preivous install of Windows(i.e. no current reg. entries) After install WindowsME and the MMC7, I then tried to run the orignal PowerDVD 2.5 and recieved the error message you did. The I tried installing a demo of PowerDVD 2.55 which also gave me the same message, then I ran the orignal version of PowerDVD 2.5 without any errors. I'm sorry if that explaination doesn't help much but what I am trying to say is it is possible. I think I also disabled the ATI DVD player from playing the DVD automatically.

Hope that helps in some way.

Installing PowerDVD and ATI player on the machines has given some problems to some of us. I was getting MMC page fault errors until i tried this fix: rename the two .ax files in the PowerDVD directory. I forgot the exact name but do a search in this forum and you'll find help. Thanks

I tried to re-name the .ax files but that did not help. I currently have PowerDVD & the ATI MMC installed. Is there a way to remove the ati DVD player without losing the TV play function?

ps. I did upgrade to the latest Via 4N1 4.25a but that has not helped either. Other than this annoying problem, the AIW Radeon is working well.

I am running InterVideo's WinDVD with no problems at all on my T-bird 800@880 (KT7-Raid) w/DDR 32mb Radeon. I do not have the ATI player installed. I only installed the Radeon drivers (and nothing else off the install CD). I am running the 3056 drivers.

I am quite impressed, actually... WinDVD with my Radeon looks better, cleaner, and crisper than my H+ card on another PC. And that's with an almost crappy low-end 2x CL DVD-ROM drive (as opposed to a 5x Phillips on the PC with the H+).

If you have the UDF file system disabled for any reason (perhaps a previous DVD decoder card required it, like mine did), that may cause this problem (at least, it did for me). Check the setting at Start\Run\msconfig\advanced\disable udf file system, and see that it is not checked.
