4K question

Hi,
Just setting up a new system - Marantz 1605 AVR, 4K-ready Blu-Ray player, and a Samsung U9000 65" 4k tv.

It appears all components will do some form of 4K upscaling. Am I correct in setting my AVR for pass-through and let the tv handle the upscaling? I'm not sure if I have a "pass-through" setting for the BRP, but set it to auto.

Yes, I'd let the U9000 do any upscaling to be done.

He could try both...whichever gives the best picture quality, stick with that.

Thanks for the replies.

Still working on this. The only pass through option is for audio on the Marantz, so am not sure how to turn off the upscaling (as the AVR does both passthrough and upscaling).

Unless something like this is your blu-ray player, I would guess that it's usually better to let a TV do upscaling.
