2019 LG OLED's to get G-Sync

Wish my freesync TV supported gsync..

These LG TV's will be Gsync COMPATIBLE which means they are basically adaptive sync and NOT proprietary NV Gsync modules. Technically an AMD card and driver should work also if AMD decide to support it.

Not without paying nVidia no? Or did G-Sync go actually free?

It looks like some people have been able to get gsync working with the LG C9.

Driver used was 440.52.

Having just picked up a 65" C9 it is taking a certain degree of self control to not go out and buy a 2080Ti right now. If money were no issue I'd already have one on the way.

We're far enough into the 2080 product cycle, and with it having not really gone down much in price since intro, doesn't make a lot of sense to buy it. It'd still be limited to 1440p/120 due to lacking hdmi 2.1 support and also the fact it can't push 120fps in 4k for most games without reducing image quality.

Just for the hell of it I thought I'd try those drivers with my Sammy and it seemed to work in Nv pendulum test for about 10 seconds until the TV flickered and blanked out.. at which point I had to reset. Next attempt it didn't work at all, just no VRR at all. Tried unplugging from PC and resetting the TV and it worked for about 5 or 10 seconds again until it blanked out...

So I guess there's hope it may work eventually.

Been using it with my C9 OLED since Friday and it works well for a software solution. Borderlands 3 feel a lot smoother now with G-sync - I set the in-game FPS limiter and it runs like a dream. I can't wait until HDMI2.1 video cards are out and can do some 4K@120Hz gaming.

The drivers unlocked 100 and 120Hz at 4k but the screen is garbled, so I think there is more work to be done with the drivers and probably a firmware update as well.

I've been pretty impressed with LG OLED so far both with my 55B7 and this 65C9. Certainly the best overall IQ I've had yet vs. any of my previous displays.
