Enabling Enhanced Sync may cause game, application or system crashes on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products

Guess it doesn't look good for their new card to be crashing in new games. Didn't have any crashes on my 480 though.

I’m not the only one who thinks AMD drivers are crap :bleh:

Absolute joke TBH. WTF is going on with their driver/software team. Navi’s a mess as is Zen 2 it’s pathetic. New AMD hardware should come with a software warning, don’t buy this hardware until it’s 6 months old and we’ve nearly fixed the software issues.

I bought a Ryzen 2700 a few months back and it runs superbly because the bios and chipset drivers are now optimised enough. They need to sort their s**t out pronto.

I wonder if they've been focusing on performance rather than stability?

Focusing on performance is a waste of time if the drivers aren't stable and they cause lots of issues. Biggest problem is lack of resources and talented software engineers. The good ones they had seem to have followed Raja to Intel.

Look at the release drivers that had loads of issues that most reviewers couldn't understand even got through Q&A, that's if they even did any. Plus they even managed to break things on Vega and Polaris that made them slower WTF. Pathetic to be honest and Navi is still in beta which is a joke.

They did not make them slower for vega or polaris. As i suggested in the other thread where you posted, that you need to go read there update to the article/benchmarks you linked. It was their fault there was a slow down, not the drivers.
There was only 1 game in the end that had problems, and that could be due to the gpu drivers, other hardware drivers (chipset), game code, or windows itself, nobody really knows.

Look NWR I have an AMD CPU and an AMD GPU so I'm telling it as it is for me. The fan curve on the 19x drivers is broken pure and simple. Just look at OC UK forums to see where I'm coming from. The problem is the drivers are also broken for Navi which is unforgivable TBH.

Unfortunately I don't think it's a priority to fix it for Vega cards now Navi is here but hey my Vega 64 is 2 years old this month and I've had a good run for my money since I bought it on release day for £449.

Saw a post on OC UK saying under volt to 950mv on all settings and set power limit to +50 and HBM to 1000 and I now boost to 1480 at under 72c and fan speed of 2700 with no loss of performance WOW.

Some have pushed the HBM to 1100 with those settings but mine seems to crap out above 1050 so I've dialed it back a little and it's now very quiet when gaming without any performance loss. Vega could have been a great card and if you tinker with it, it is but AMD could and should have done a lot better with it.

1480 only? Mine boosts to 1700 UV to 1.09 mv. Temps max at 87c tho. Dont care about the fan curve I dont hear the gpu when gaming.

Sorry you are having a bad time, but you might want to take a look at my system specs.. I have AMD CPU and a AMD GPU as well. I was just commenting on the fact that you are saying that drivers are reducing performance for Vega and Polaris, which is false. Your comeback is a completely different argument then what I was responding to.

We get it, you are upset at AMD, you have been for a very long time, and you take very chance you get to voice that frustration,
But you have been complaining about the fan curve for months.. it's time to get over it and move on.

As for your undervolting and overclocking that in most cases, has NOTHING to do with drivers.. that is purely silicon lottery. The fact that you can even run the memory faster than stock speeds, with less voltage is a positive, not a negative .

Question: have you updated the bios on your card to the latest one? I have, and my memory use to crap out at 1025.. I am now happy at 1100 (could probably go higher, but I choose not to).

Now, I have my air cooled coverted over to water.. mine is stable up to 1700 core, and 1100 memory.. Am I complaining that I can't hit what other's are.. NO.. because there has never been any guarantee that the card would run outside of it's stock settings, much less match what other's are hitting... Same holds true for your card.

I used to get my card boost to 1663 but temps were way over 85c but the new under volt keeps temps at 72c max and I only lose a small % performance. What's not to like about that.

Using a 3rd Party overclocking tool

I think that everyone is aware I'm not a big fan of the new fan curve in the adrenalin drivers. I have decided, after much deliberation, to purchase either the Sapphire 5700XT Pulse or the Powercolor Red Devil although I am definitely leaning towards the Sapphire as my last two cards have been from Sapphire and I've had no problems with either.

The Sapphire card comes with the Trixx software which I used to use on my Fury Pro Tri-X and it was very good for overclocking. I know I don't have to enable Wattman in the drivers so is it still possible to use the Trixx software and ignore Wattman or will their be an issue if I use the Trixx software without enabling Wattman. Obviously my Vega 64 is a reference card so TRixx doesn't work so any information would be nice.

TRixx works with reference cards as well. You shouldn't have any issues using it without enabling Wattman.

I installed it and it recognised my card and read the P7 state and HBM right. Did a quick benchmark and the score was way off what it should be. Checked the fan speed in Trixx and it was set to auto. Opened Wattman and noticed the max fan speed had been reduced to 400  No wonder the score was off as the card was running at less than half-speed.

I reset the max fan speed in Wattman to 2800 and reran the benchmark and everything was back where it should be. To make sure the issue was Trixx I uninstalled it and then reinstalled it and hey presto the max fan was back to 400 in Wattman.

A strange one that but I suppose I could sort out the fan profile in Trixx and this would over ride the Wattman settings. TBH I’m not going to bother as I intend to sell this card in the near future and I’m not going to update the bios for the same reason just in case something goes wrong.
