These won't install on my 290X.. actually 18.1.1 are the last set that I have been able to install.

Any sets after that won't install. It says they do but they don't. Just did a full cleanup and the install fresh and nothing they just don't install.

I've been through driver hell on my 290. What finally seemed to solve it was this.

Disable windows driver update if it isn't already.
Uninstall your card and software from device manager.
run AMDs cleanup utility.
Manually delete any AMD folders left over including hidden ones in user/appdata

reboot as needed, then try the latest set.

You've probably done most, or all of that, but that's what finally worked for me. I was ready to put my fist through my brand new pc lol. Good luck

No problems on my 290X. Try disabling Windows Update auto driver installs. Sometimes Win10 tries to install M$ default VGA drivers in the background and that can bork your AMD/NV driver install.

Unfortunately this is the first driver set in a long time that I've not been able to just install over the old drivers. Basically the installation just crapped out on me so I cancelled it, restarted and then it said the drivers had installed but I had no driver panel. So I uninstalled them with DDU in safe mode, reinstalled and now all seems to be fine.

Maybe my luck ran out who knows but all seems to be fine now although time will tell I suppose.

It may be the same challenge i had too and i have a brand new rig with Vega56.I am an Windows Insider and i had windows 10 x64 build 17074.For some reason i couldn't install any version above 18.1.1.I had not found my answer around internet so after a couple of versions i couldn't not install i decided to set the FAST ring and upgrade to 17107.After upgrading all my issues went away.Firefox Quantum Edition crashed very often without any reason. With 17107 no more crashes.

Ahh! I'm a Windows Inside too running 17074. This could be it.. I will upgrade and see if this does the trick. Thank you.

As windows insiders we are on our own.No support. If we both had 16299 we wouldn't discuss this.I had run out of options and no one had this issue and also noone responded on AMD reddit february support.Moving to fast ring as a last solution before installing 16299.
