16 mb ATI Mobility

I just bought the Dell 5000e it has the new 16mb ATI video card in it. I am running Win ME and it will not play EverQuest properly. The video looks fine in some places and in others it is Like the refresh rate has went haywire and it is only on the top half of the screen. I down loaded the newest drivers i could from the Dell site but is is no Better. Does anyone have any ideas that might help me fix this problem?

I do not know about the mobility chipset specificly, but I do know some general questions I am going to ask. Is everquest the only game that an anomaly like this happens to you in. Is everything graphic related (generally) free from errors (photoshop, windows desktop, word, Excel...Etc.). If this problem is an everquest only issue the I can tell you 99.999% thta it is a driver problem, but if glitches occur in most applications then I will be sorry to tell you that its hardware related and immediately get on the phone with Dell.

I just checked with ATI's site and found this warm message about mobility drivers.

<Rage Mobility drivers are NOT available for download from ATI Technical Support.>

Well great :( . Since that notebook is pretty new and still has free phone tech-support I suggest you call dell and report the issue (only if you have the time). If you do call, don't forget to also write an email just to make sure the Dell camp gets the message. I am sorry that this issue has come up with your product. You should be thankful that you will dealing with Dell and not ATI. I wish you best of luck and hope Everquest will be up and running in no time.
 
Thank you for your time and your help, it is greatly appreciated. Everquest is the only place i seem to be having video problems. Altho i am having other problems like dialing into aol it will never connect on the first try you have to let it try the second numerber before it will connect and it seems to lock up quite often for no apparent reason. The machine is 850mhz 256 meg ram and 10 gig hard drive with ME as the operating system i think i should have went to 98 second edition instead. The graphics are awesome in other games and seems to have a vary fast FR. Thx again for your time.
