1080P to 4K scaling?

Can you name some TVs that are able to scale to 4K fine? My even HD channels are mostly 720P and decoder is upscaling them to 1080P with some work done by my TV. I wanted to check as to how the quality of a typical decoder channel look on a 4K television?

Also, can someone confirm how a PS4 and XBONER looks on such a high resolution? Finally, some recommendations of 55" 4K TV would be good. I will possibly pickup a Samsung but not sure if I want regular or curved and 3D or no 3D.

Thoughts?

Ive seen the consoles on new 4k sets at the stores, they looked fine to me. Granted I didnt have the time to sit there and nitpick, but I didnt see anything wrong glaring out at me. As for 4k tv, again the same store had 4k sets running non 4k and they looked ok... again nothing bad was glaring out. This was with Samsung, LG and Sharp TV's i believe. Not a huge fan of curved sets, i notice distortion on certain angles that bother me. Tho the design and the curved surface will help in specific room setups including helping with glare issues.

My Vizio does a damn good job at upscaling 1080p content. 720p looks pretty good as well.

Vizio if you can. Honestly, I looked at ALL available 4k sets in person and it was the best brand quality/price wise.

I don't think Vizio is available here locally. Will need to check out.
Also curved 3D and 4k, curved 4K only or flat 4K and 3D or flat 4K only?

If you don't mind missing out of some good tech that will be available on 4K TVs towards the end of this year and beginning of next year, I say go for it.

Today's 4K TVs might have issues playing 4K Blu-rays. But even if they do, you probably won't get all the "tech" that will be on 4K Blu-rays.

Flat all the way. Whether you want 3d is up to you. Never been super impressed by it.

What tech are you referring to? Blu ray issue to my understanding is due to not having a HVEC decoder which will be part of the blu ray player that can play 4K content. Has nothing to do with the TVs themselves.

Rec. 2020, HDR, HFR, 10/12 bit color.

4K is great for monitors (since you're sitting close to the screen), much less useful for TVs.

Unless you like passive 3D... than 4K TV would make sense.

My viewing experience would differ completely. I had my 4k right next to my 1080p set, playing the same content from PLEX, and the 4k blew the old set clear out of the water (bear in mind the 1080p set is only 2-3 years old and was top-end at the time).

I posted this elsewhere as well but this might be a good place. As some of you may already know I bought a Samsung Series 9 4K 3D TV. This is supposedly able to do 120 Hz. It is a nice screen and you can read more about it here.

Would really appreciate support in getting this TV to run on 4K resolution (currently runs 1080/60P using any console that I have) and also to increase refresh to 120 Hz.

Thanks.

Well it seems that the samsung upscaler is always on since even when the TV is reporting that it has signal of 1080P/60 the damn image is superb. The motion control seems to be working and I don't have any jaggies in Forza 5 and Destiny which are the two jaggiest games I had on new consoles.

What a fantastic upgrade! Any gay thinking this is a gimmick etc should buy a 4K set stat. I am a convert.

I have the 65" curved version of this TV. Love it, except my Blu-ray, receiver and the tv are all "smart", and seem to always want to download updates at the most inappropriate times. Funny enough, all 3 offer the upscaling option, and I'm never sure what is doing what....
