(0) Zero performance increase with Catalyst!!!

I have a duron 600@900 ,128 sdram and powercolor radeon 8500 evil master II Pro . I installed the catalyst drivers for winme (using the manual update because of the "inf driver not found" error) and in 3dmark2001 and quake 3 i got the SAME numbers like with the older drivers (5042 in 3dmark with the def. benchmark and 78 in quake 3 with HQ and 1024*768).
WTF is goind on:mad: :mad: ???

And i'm not the only one .....

With every new driver revision you will see an increase in your 3dmark2001se score and the fps on all your other video games shall increase. THUS IT IS WRITTEN AND THUS IT SHALL BE

I haven't seen any performance increase either, as compared to the 6071's but I am pretty happy with how my card is performing. Considering that these are the first revision of the Catalyst drivers (if it makes you feel better, you can refer to them as the Cataclysm driver - just make sure you give me credit for the copyright on that <g>) I am not concerned about them being better performers than the 6071's but I do expect them to perform at the same level.

And they are not the only ones that got an increase.

BTW i use the wme-radeon-4-13-01-9039-efg.exe (for radeon8500/radeon8500le) ,not the reference drivers . Could that be the cause???

Lukar claimed these drivers should increase performance by 15-25%. More fairy tales to follow. :D

Personally, I'm satisfied, but I think nobody is doing ATI a service by spouting such BS claims.--

I received a substantial increase in performance on my system. I can run all games (except that piece of **** GTA3) now at 1152x864x32 w/ 2xQuality AA and 16xAF and still have 60-75 fps. some games even allow me to go to 4xAA and still go no lower than 50fps. There are others though who gained very little performance boost. The only explination is that no two systems are alike. some of the ppl who didn't get an increase in performance have commented on how the games are smoother now though and that the IQ is better. So check for that instead.

btw i think that the CPU and the memory is your bottleneck. you gotta remember that the Duron only has half the L2 cache. this causes bottlenecks since the Duron is inhibited by the lack of Cache.

you would see around a 40%-50% increse if u upgraded your cpu from a duron @900 mhz to an athlonXP @ 1.53 ghz :)
