Xbox One Surround Sound

So just hooked up my new Xbox One. At first i thought Netflix was acting weird. But every episode i watched regardless of show sounded low. All the background music was playing and only a few sound effects came in. Voices completely gone. I'm sure this is something to do with channels and what not. I've looked at the audio settings but i just am not knowledgeable enough on this subject.
I dont exactly know the difference between Dolby Digital and DTS Digital Surround.
5.1 uncompressed or Bitstream? I dunno. This is not something i'm used to. Can anyone clarify and then of course help me troubleshoot?

I'm not an expert, but it's all about the encoding/decoding of the audio signal.

Dolby and DTS are just two different proprietry ways of encoding audio, most modern receivers are able to decode both types if required.

I think the uncompressed 5.1 is PCM by another name, so reading the following article will give you a decent overview of the difference between that and bitstream. Gist is that PCM means the Xbox decodes the audio and Bitstream means your audio device does the decoding.

Have you experienced the issue on dvd's or games as well as Netflix shows?

Shout at your XBONE and tell it to shut the ****ing surround sound off. The command for this is XBOX OFF.
