Trouble with LG OLED gaming features

Seems like they're on top of it. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a firmware update to correct it.

I didn't say quick. Looks like they're on top of it though, and not ignoring it.

Looks like this has been going on since 2019 though and still hasn’t been fixed. I guess you can hope they will take it seriously now that 2.1 is finally coming out, along with the new consoles.

:hmm:

i have not noticed it on my CX

is this with G-sync also or only VRR & freesync ?

can't get my 390x to work with freesync with it

so can't test that

I had issues with raised black on my LG panel with Dolby Vision and VRR. I was causing macro blocking and black bar flickering as well as visually raised blacks. It's a pretty annoying problem to have on a high end TV but it can be worked around for the time being by calibrating the display using spears and munsil calibration software on the modes that cause problems.

Didn’t notice anything on my set. Both GSync and VRR worked fine.
As for blocks in blacks. It only happens with Dolby Vision in rare cases like Stranger Things S3E6 during dark black scene. This I am told can be calibrated away but ain’t nobody got time for that.

Where you gays getting that new firmware? Hasn’t shown up for my C9 yet.

Thanks for posting. I've got a 3090 on it's way. I bought a Zeskit 8K HDMI cable in preparation but reading that thread, it looks like they don't work correctly for some reason. Just ordered a monoprice cable just in case. Hopefully I can get everything sorted out by the end of Friday so I can enjoy my new toy over the weekend. Also of note, it looks like Nvidia released a hotfix driver that should help with some problems as well.

My monoprice, which I got many months back, worked OK. The club3d cable I just picked up also worked OK.

I have changed all the settings on the C9 that you need to fix to minimize issues on the release firmware.
1. Disable g-sync
2. Disable instant game response.
3. Disable live plus.
4. Set driver to 119hz refresh.
5. Use latest hotfix driver.

I still, occasionally, get a screen/signal drop out or a artifact pop. It is much rarer now, to the point of not really being a problem to me. Before I made those changes above, it was unusable.

The engineering firmware works for most people but I'm going to be patient and just let the release drop and pick it up. Currently, I can run 119hz desktop and games just fine. Can't use any sync features though. Depending on the game, tearing can happen, but in TD2 anyway I haven't noticed any yet.

It appears Tv's are having all kinds of problems out of the gate, my Sony X900H's first 2.1 update is probably much worse then the LG issues.

My C9 updated last night. Can’t check what it does or doesn’t do. Will see if the CX also had an update and maybe try to bone 120 Hz on it. I don’t have an HDMI 2.1 cable though. :hmm:
