Thinking of getting a G400 max. Look at the results...

HI ALL,

After messing with this Rage Fury for a while, and not getting it to work in all games like I want, I'm thinking of getting a G400max from matrox. I found some good reading on it, and other cards.

After seeing some others go to a TNT2 card, I thought I'd share this page I found. Take a look at it, maybe we can learn something.

I still like this Rage Fury card, but the drivers,(IMO) are killing the potential of the card....


Does anyone have this G400max card? How do you compare it to the Rage?

I just bought the MAX!
main differences, dual 128bit pipeline making it faster, better drivers, dual head for flawless dvd - two independent monitors - or cloning monitor to tv.
Image quality in 32 is every bit as good as my old fury, and 16 bit is better.
I did keep my fury for second system so i'm not anti-ati. BUT the max ROCKS!
 
Better drivers with the G400? NOT. At least when it comes to openGL. However, I heard they will have a new build soon, so there is still hope. :)

wha tis your system configuration? i am thinking of upgrading to a g400 max as well. i want to know if it will work well with a k6-3 450mhz cpu

PIII 450 oc'd 550 (actually about 548 or someting like that)

10 gig hd
diamond mx 300
matrox g400 max + 12mb voodoo2 (damn glide games)
samsung 6x dvd
hp cdr

I loved my fury but the g400 is faster, even out benchmarks the tnt2 ultra when using NEW g400 turbo drivers-check out anandtech article on "gforce should you buy part 1"
The gforce is the only card that beat g400 max

I own a G400 and it ROCKS ass. Anyone who says the OpenGl sucks doesn't have a clue. The OpenGL kicks; and now that the TurboGL drivers are out, if ya gotta P3 or Athlon, they kick harder. This card kills the Rage Fury in every conceivable area. Waaaay better drivers, better image quality, better speed, HELLUVA lot better support. Not to mention EMBM and dual head. I bought a single-head non-Max G400 a few weeks ago and I can say without a doubt that this is the best video card I have ever owned. I gave away my Xpert 128. :)

Well, that about says it all... The G400 max will soon be in my system ;-) Thanks for the replys...
