That daily game progress thread...

I finished Starfield, the way you gain space magic got tedious as FUCK when you have to repeat that process over 20 times.

I can't believe that they did not add a way to skip the process.

Anyway, starfield had some pretty good side/faction quests, the writing for the companion quests sucked, the main quest was ok/better than the one in Fallout 4.

I hereby proclaim that Starfield is the Casul game of the year.

Completed Starfield. The game has lows and highs, and the highs make the experience worth it especially if you're on PC and can use mods to fix many of the issues it shipped with. Sure there's tedious annoying slow parts, but there's also enjoyable quests, memorable moments and the occasional awesome banger which make sludging through the weaker parts of the game worth the time. The 7-8 reviews seemed to be on point. There's moments when it feels like a 6, but also moments when it feels like a 9.5.

To some it will be worth it, to some not. It is a packed year with lots of amazing games to choose from. Any game coming out after Baldur's Gate 3 would have a tougher time in the minds of gamers and reviewers, as that was a 10/10 experience and raised the bar of what RPG gaming should be.

The NG+ modes in Starfield have some nifty tricks / universe changes / other cool stuff for those who really enjoyed it to the max and want more.

A friend had gifted me €10 for my birthday, which means that with its current discount I spent a whole 9 bucks of my own money on Red Dead Redemption 2. Time to play cowboy again, yeehaw.

Finished the game on PS4 Pro years ago, but I like the thought of roaming the countryside on 60fps this time. :p

Having a really good time playing RDR2. Knowing it's so slow, and knowing its mission structure has to be followed to the letter, means I don't get as frustrated as I did the first time around. I have to take my time and follow the game - and so long as I can accept that lack of player agency, it's phenomenal.

Finished Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty. 11 / 10 for fixing the game. 7 / 10 for value for money.

MW3 beta
Ass Creed Mirage
Starfield
SF6
Cyberpunk 2077
Robocop demo
Forza Motorsport

Lots of fun but so little time

Woo we're back. Anyone know what happened? Only been playing random 5 dollar games on steam lately.

Old age, most likely.

I've been playing Red Dead Redemption 2, and having much more fun with it than I thought I would. A slow, deliberate game, it's much easier to choose between "do it my own way" open world and "accept the story" main questline, when you're choosing actively.

Also been playing Company of Heroes 2 with friends last night - an actual four-person evening LAN party. The four of us have 1200 hours of gametime combined in COH2, but that's 1000 for one, and ~70 each for the other three of us. So online against others, we're absolutely useless. But after switching to AI matches, we had a ton of fun winning against Standard AI and just losing to Hard AI. COH2 is wonderful when it's that close!

Was a big fan of doh 1. coh 2 kept crashing on me and i couldnt play long enough to get into it. Just enjoyed the campaigns though. Suck at pvp. PLayed 3? Im always curious about it.

I enjoyed COH3 reasonably, but not as much as COH1. COH2 is, strangely enough, my least favorite but that 1000h friend... He's obviously got a preference, and I accept that.

Playing Forza Motorsport 2023. Finding myself pretty bored but I'll power through it and uninstall.

I quite enjoyed it. It was a solid 12 hours for me. I don't like games that overstay their welcome. It did some things which I would consider a no brainer for future arcade games. I wrote a detailed review somewhere - let me find it.

Few things that I really liked are:
1) Playlists that are varied
2) Cars that are loaned (makes life much simpler)
3) Nitrous - really would want this in Forza Horizon next time
4) Short(er) distances to next race (usually)
5) AI companion that is actually helpful
6) First person mode for bikes/ATV (wow, felt really fast)
7) Soundtrack
8) 2 clicks to swap between ride, air and sea

Things that are on par with Forza Horizon 5:
1) Rewind feature
2) Car handling - different types of quirks but on keyboard both games play well
3) AI difficulty levels
4) Map and navigation
5) Sense of speed
6) Damage model
7) Ability to jump into a car and drive immediately
8) Easy upgradeability

Things I really don't like are:
1) Mirrors not working
2) OMGRAFIX!
3) 60 fps in 2023 wtf?
4) Nickel and diming for everything - In FH5 I didn't have to worry about cash ever
5) Some challenges like photo ops and collecting boxes wtf?
6) Fast travel limitations
7) Tiny island - probably waiting to nickel and dime for expansions
8) Some extremely cringe dialog

Didnt like the graphics? interesting, it ssems decent from the trailers. 60 fps performance, or the game is capped at 60? Still, sounds like it may actually be fun.

Capped at 60. Can't go over. At 1440P my graphics card was running at 1700 MHz (it is supposed to run at 2700 MHz). Even at 4K it barely passed 2500-2650 MHz due to fps cap.
I got over it though and finished it so can't really complain. It stays pegged at 60 so it is not that disruptive. It's like playing on a console performance mode but with relatively better than console graphics.
Car models are great tbh but the environment etc. is a mixed bag. Sometimes looks great and sometimes looks garbage. Same for cockpit view as well.

Playing Forza Motorsport 2023, it's honestly pretty boring but it's okay sometimes. Sadly it has some bugs.

Finished viewfinder, great puzzler

Finished cocoon the other week, was pretty good but I think it's overrated.

Question about forza being boring. Is it because its circuit racing and more arcade racing games have been pretty good lately, making it seem boring in comparison. Or is there some odd thing in the game that makes the circuit racing in particular boring?
