I've noticed this new window on my Steam front page, part of their revamp I guess.

The name makes it pretty clear what they're trying to do but something seems to have gone wrong. I keep getting rubbish games suggested to me;

Today it was Crossroads Inn - Mixed - "Building mode is a nightmare. You can't delete walls or make one. You need to 'sell' part of room and build it again to make a wall - its the most frustrating thing I've ever seen. ..."

Yesterdays was Mostly Negative described as "tedious and repetitive".

I'm guessing no publicity is bad but I'm not sure if Steam is really wanting to push this to the front of my store page.

Hmm this seems like it will be abused. Small devs will just give out codes for good reviews. I changed it to reviews in the last week and increased the minimum hours to 6. Looks a bit better now but I kinda want to disable it.

I just checked and I too have that Crossroads Inn as a recomendation however no tags as I dont play that type of game, never liked them but see its 'A Top Seller' so presume all will get that added.

Looks like the tags it uses are down to games I have played or trialed so will expect a load of crap to show in that window, mainly ignore tbh.

I just wish I could disable all the shite in steam and just browse games like normal people with new release top sellers and upcoming. That is why EGS, Uplay and Origin are all better stores for me.

Easily solved by a tick box for each of the 5 or so banners before you get to the software list at the bottom of the page. Shame we have no choice and its forced onto us.

Yes it's still there but you have to wade through tons of crap to get there.
