Smart Watches, stuck.

I had a Huawei about 3 years ago, and it was supposedly one of the better ones.
Never. Again.
The 2 Samsung watches I had died, wouldn’t turn on, less than a year.

Ymmv- My daughter has one of these new ones, got it not long after release and just loves it. She’s small, but doesn’t seem to mind the size.

Fwiw.

thx for the input my friend. That doesn't sound good.

Thread necro: Was thinking about getting one for my wife, obvious choice would've been the Samsung Watch since she got the S20. A few things holding me back though

1. Size: They look really REALLY big, not sure if she would like such a roadblock on her wrist

2. Price: Well, they're not exactly cheap, especially compared to other brands.

3. Surprisingly many bad/very bad reviews. I never owned one, so i can't tell personally.

4. Alternatives like Huawei or other Off-Brands

I got my wife a samsung fitness band Fit 2. She didn't want charging at all, but configured correctly, she can go 2 weeks between charging.

It's relatively slight, can get aftermarket bands (and she did), and cheap. She's very happy with it, but she wasn't going into it expecting to take calls on her wrist, etc. Doesn't have fancy faces, etc. It's primarily a watch and fitness tracker, though the upside of seeing messages coming in, etc

I jumped on the smartwatch bandwagon by buying a Samsung Gear S3 for 80 bucks off a highschooler a few years back. Loved it, but eventually killed it. The power button died, which I replaced myself for about 8$ at the expense of water resistance around a year ago. That finally caught up with me a week ago when I forgot about my lack of water resistance and submerged it in water...

I replaced it with a refurbished Galaxy watch 3 I picked up for $99, which I've been enjoying.

Before that I had the Gear Fit, and loved it.

thx for the input, guys, much appreciated. We already have something very similar to the Band Fit 2, don't like the very small display which is why i thought about getting something a _bit_ bigger.

Mine has been going strong. No issues and they finally brought Google assistant, which has been working out great. Despite reports of it draining battery life... I've had no change in battery life, or at least nothing I've been able to notice.

Keep in mind this is the larger 46mm. I also replaced the strap with a metal styled one and switched to "Facer" to customize the look as well.
