Samsung 860 pro 512GB firmware update

Does anyone here own one? After a year with no firmware updates, they release one now without any release notes. It feels risky to update. Does Samsung magican have a good track record with firmware updates?

Just do the update. Done firmware updates via Samsung Magician many times with out a hitch across two different models.

I don't recommend it myself. Seen too many bricked ssd's after firmware updates. If it ain't broke...

The update went fine. Time will tell if it's a good update or not.
The revision history on Mar 18,2018 for my drive say "Fix MTBF rating to 1.5 million hours" whatever that means. Got the SSD in Feb 2018. I'm guessing it might be related to that.

Magician does have a pretty good track record, and it's usually not an issue... but Samsung has also been known to release buggy firmware updates from time to time. IMHO it's always best to give it at least a few days while you check around for complaints/howls of pain from the impatient folk (more so if your drive appears to be working fine). There have been times when I've ignored firmware updates for months simply because nothing seemed to be broken.
