RX 5700 XT vs 2060 Super: 6 months later.

Note they dedicated a significant portion of that video on DLSS 2.0 with the RTX 2060 (which offers a significant bump in resolution than what the 2060/5700XT can push natively) and said this:

"Many of you probably think long term the 5700XT will age much better than the 2060 Super, that might not be the case if DLSS 2.0 game support dramatically improves in the future".

Which is true, there's only a handful of DLSS 2.0 games out at the moment. But considering a good number of AAA games for this year like Cyberpunk 2077, Dying Light 2, Watch Dogs 3, etc.. will have DLSS 2.0 support, "aging like fine wine" might be more like "aging like spoiled milk" if you plan on keeping a 5700XT long term over a 2060S.

since xbox series x and ps5 will be using AMD's form of RT & DLSS I think they will be fine

and if Nvidia's RTX is not compatible with AMD's and Microsoft it is the one that will go the way of g sync and all Nvidia's other failed proprietary BS

Source where PS5/XboxX will have AI upscaling? Also Nvidia RTX is DX12/Vulcan compliant. It's not going anywhere. Also it's "propietary" not "priority".

Lastly, no matter what you say Bill, somehow your dollars always go to Nvidia. :hmm:

no it's proprietary not "propietary" :p

it was early and i'm replacing my damn water tank :bleh:

and i only started buying NV with the gtx 680 and have not got every round of cards :p

and you said the same thing when i said free-sync would win out and oh look it did :p

as for " Source where PS5/XboxX will have AI upscaling? "

just logic

i think they will need it to use ray tracing at 1440p/4k and that they are getting RT is everywhere

The 5700xt is the better bang for buck. Banking on dlss to save the 2060 Super for better performance in the future is a gamble not worth making.

I don't agree, between DLSS and RTX the 2060 Super is far more future proof, IMHO.

RTX sure, but it's barely fast enough to use it. DLSS on the other hand has to be implemented per game. So even if it gets better future support, it will never always be there. So you can't rely on it to get better performance.

That's not true, I play all RTX enabled games (with the exception of Quake 2) at well over 100 FPS @ 1440p.

I'm sure nobody would get a 2060 SUper to play at 1440p of course. Should be very douable at 1080p.

With a 2080 Ti... the 2060 Super isn't equal in RayTracing performance.

Agreed, hence why I mentioned a lower res.

I'll just say that if it was my choice I'd rather buy an RTX enabled card than one without it.

What title would it get that sorta performance? It's a balancing act, but I wouldn't recommend a 2060 Super if a person was holding out for RayTracing support as it comes out.

Hardware Unboxed released a follow up vid

but where are the all the 100's of games they promised :hmm:

we got less than a dozen for 1350 bucks after 18 months and 3 or 4 AAA most are crap games with RT tacked on to sell a crap game :(

and we all know it is what delayed cyberpunk 2077 we would be playing it in 2 days but for RTX :p

I agree but you know more are on the way as the user base grows bigger. Even Vukan got RTX extensions lately.

:hmm:

so is navi 2x

I don't think we will get lots of RT games till they both have RT and they work close enough that devs don't have to code differently for each one
maybe all three if Intel can get a card out that does not end up in patent violation court

till then all we are going to get in RT games is the slow drip drip drip of g.........

AMD needs to get back to work they are all in cleanroom bunny suit anyway can't get sick easy in those
i had to ware them working on a Intel fab always hated them now i want one

We will likely see more and more RT games as we get closer to the next consoles as they have RT. But even if we do, the 2060 Super might not able to handle the RT as games get more demanding than they already are today.

Maybe but at least it can do it and depending on the game you can select the amount of RT effects used. As I said, I'd rather have it than not, especially with DLSS. helping the FPS.

But DLSS isn't always going to be there and likely won't be unless nVidia sponsors the game.

p.s. Unless a non-proprietary version of DLSS pops into existence.
