Radeon Ultra??

Hey,
I heard that there will be "Ultra" versions of most Radeons that were running at 183MHZ... these would be running at 240MHZ MEM and Clock..

COOL :), and the OEM versions should run at 183 then.

Gimme more Ultra.

bah, I think ATi would know better than to imitate Nvidia by just making faster hardware. If you notice Radeon selling points:

Price/Value
Features, Features, Features

Nvidia selling points:
Speed

That would be a fatal mistake to imitate that market share as ATi would get stomped in an "ultra" comparison. Honestly, I don't even think a core clock speed of 240mhz with the same GPU would be beneficial. (in dollar terms).
I say leave well enough alone, and develop the hell out of some drivers. That is gonna be where its at with the Radeon, if they ever get around to completing the DX8 driver set. Kinda like the Presidetial election.

I'm sure the Radeon CPU could easily handle higher clock speeds. It's the darn 5.5&6.0ns DDR SDRAM that's keeping the speeds down.

But like The_Professional said, it aint always speed that makes the ride a blast. 8 speaker stereo, convertable, air conditioning, power locks/windows, heated seats... you get my point.

There was a guy named BlackJesus in an Nvidia chatroom a while back that was trumpeting a Radeon Ultra, he even made a website with pictures of development. I think he was pretty delusioned as it was ssome pics of Radeon development in a booth at fall comdex.

You will find that shareholders of companies will pay someone to broadcast "future technologies" in order to pump their stock. 3dfx, did this (in a way) with the voodoo5 6000. I have heard that the extent of R&D on that card was the initial prototype. They spent quite a lot of time and money on marketing that card, and now it wont be released. Good thing I wasnt waiting on that one.

Well I have to work on where I have to put those posts :) , sorry to the moderators, for the work I'm causing.

no it wasn't a small bird. :) (very original)

Ok guys I know don't trust anything until you have seen it yourself, especially when its about hardware.

got take a look for yourself http://www.mediaxplosion.de/

I can translate if you wnat me to, but I think the key words are understandable.

I really hope it is true. for ATI and all future buyers of this great Card.

No I'M not someone called BlackJesus and I'm not getting payed by ATI nor Nvidia, (hmm but be nice though)

the rest of your post could be true, especially when regarding the Voodoo5 6K
Well there are even kind of official benchs.
Voodoo5 6000 Quake3 1600x1200x16 2x FSAA 62FPS
Well I always thought it can reach 60fps at 32bit? well and what about 8xFSSA :)

I will try it

ATI is anouncing ATI Ultra.
Despite the already anounced ATI Radeon VE
ATI informed that they will enhance current Radeon Cards with a new tuning process, ATI calls "enhanced 18mu" (how to write that??)
Cards like the Radeon 64MB Vivo, or all current Retail products running at 183MHZ will be available at 240MHZ (Core and Memory)
Todays Cards OEM and Bulk running at 166MHZ will be replaced with 183MHZ ones.
More information will surely be announced.

it is not 1:1 translatet, damn german but I think its everything that stands there in german too.

BlackBirdSR:
I have a 4mb IBM ISA Video card that can do 1600x1200x32bit Q3a and get 188-192fps.

That's how easy it is to make people think that a product will do something. Its known as technical qualification. It is a marketing trick. You are a statistic BlackBirdSR. Now if you beleive that some well developed prototype for 3dfx will do all of that and was intended for release to the public at those specifications, I have a bridge to sell you in New Mexico.

I had to laugh when I saw that website. That is the same exact information BlackJesus was broadcasting. But I didn't see any pictures.
Trust me, there will be NO Radeon "Ultra"
There will although be, a Radeon 2.
Life goes on.

It is very sad.
I have seen that, thought, hey lets here what others think about it and all I get is some really unfriendly answers.
You are doing as if I am the one how is creating all those roumors.
The Voodoo numbers are fo real. damn they licensed it to Quantum, there is even a petition ongoing to force Quantum 3D to release a Voodoo5 6K like Card.
Well I'm excusing myself for posting anything exciting here. Sorry that I messed up your day

Hey BlackBirdSR hold up man,
I didnt mean to kill you. I have to scrutinize all the information on future technologies as it affects buying decisions. I had to follow up with a firm rebuttle to your information and reaffirm that there wont be a radeon ultra.
I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings, but speculative information is serious business.

Ok, thanks,
let's stop making sensless posts,
We will see if it's just a roumor or not, I can't decide... would it be that bad would there be a Raeon Ulr.. sorry, Clock Speed Enhanced Radeon ?

Ok, here is the second page I found with that Information.
I will not translate this big text as it says basicly the same like the previous one.

AND before you ask me why? to hell only these damn german pages are hving those infos.
I don't know what time you have at the moment,
but in Germany it is early evening. 21.30 hours.
This is the time most of our sites are updated for the last time per day. That is way.

Well this can still be wrong. just to mention

Well, if ATI is announcing a Radeon Ultra, it would be on there website under Corporate Information --> Press Releases. I can tell you now that it isn't.

I have a friend that works for ATI, but he's at Comdex in Las Vegas for three weeks. Otherwise I'd ask him if he's heard about it.

ATI's head office is about a 15 minute car drive from where I work and is also a local telephone call from here. If you want, I could call them up and ask for you? :)

According to themeter.com ATI said they would release higher clocked versions of the Radeon. They need a product to compete against the GeForce2 Pro which is running at 200\400.

Isn't the Radeon 2 the "higher clocked" version?
There aren't any new technologies that ATi is prepared to put in a Radeon 2 should it be released Q1-Q2, so logically, we would have to see an improvement on the existing Radeon with memory clock speed.

Grinch, I would beleive you before I would belive some hypertext on an obscure website or a lousy post. We may have to end this rediculous talk with Grinch making a phone call to Corporate offices.

So that means I am the big time looser anyway.
Just becouse I have found some sites with information of a possible Clock enhanced Radeon Card?.
All I wanted was you opinion on this, instead I get blamed becouse of some lousy post.

Looks like your life is screwed up big time.
I have not posted crap roumors I invetend my self nor have I blamed anyone of you so why are you so hostile towards me??

I'm really looking foreward what ATI says,
what if they prove those crap hyperlinks to be true? wouldn' matter , rigth? I am the big a**hole here.
