Quake 2 RTX, now this is the kind of remaster that we want to have.

as some comments on that video said, we need to see more very old games being remastered with ray tracing.

I am still playing Quake 1 to this day , but Quake 2 level design ... **** how many times i got lost .

meh .

this is awesome, definitely going to play.

Fun story behind quake 2 for me: as a kid, 11-12 years old, I played this game so much that I popped a nerve in my left eye which made it swell up and close off completely. This did not make me stop playing however, which resulted in the same thing happening to my right eye only a couple of weeks later. This is how my third eye grew out.

LOL, I got repetitive strain injury in my wrist from the position of my hand over the keyboard. Had to stop using my computer for 2 weeks and got a gel pad to lift my wrist up.

the excitement is not just for quake 2 rtx, but the possibility that more classic games to be remastered with ray tracing.

half life rtx
thief rtx
deus ex rtx
etc.

It always sort of bothers me when they go with super high resolution textures and lighting but leave the models the same.... it just doesn't look right. It's not that low poly stuff necessarily bothers me, just seeing so much update and then to just leave an obvious one out seems so half-assed.... this is by no means the only game or remake to do it, it's been happening for a decade at least.

Sure, textures and lighting are nice and quake 2 is remembered fondly, but the half-remastered aesthetic is a put-off to me. Oh well, can't run RTX anyways :bleh:

Looks ****ing sweet! Would love to see that done for Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

Surprised to see so many people stuck in the past.

Do you understand the meaning of the word classic? Some things stand the test of time and are a joy to go back to. I still play these old shooters a few times a year. They are IMO more fun than newer shooters especially with all the great mods that are available now. So much faster and fun to play than the crap we get now.
