Hoping someone could help me. I have an all in wonder card which is DVI-D and BinQ LCD monitor which DVD-I, when I hook the cable up that came with the monitor the screen jumps and all sorts of weird colors appear. Do I need a DVI-D cable or is my minitor NFG ??????

Please help

Even the newest AIW X1900 has DVI-I, I wonder what AIW you have.
As long as your monitor has DVI-I, which accept both DVI-D and DVI-A, the what you called DVI-D AIW should work well with your Benq.
Have you tested your card with another monitor?

Yatalok is right about the interoperability of DVI-D and A with DVI-I -- I means integrated if I remember. That's not your problem.

It's not clear from your post if you have plugged in the cable when the computer is off or on. You should plug in the cable with the computer off and try again. If it is working at POST, then it's not likely the hardware.

There is an option in the drivers to use "alternate DVI mode", but I think you can only get that when the DVI cable is connected. Anyone?

Kinda presents a problem though when you cannot see the screen. :)

A search on the forum might help.

Actually, I found this in the Knowledge Base on ATI's site: 737-370: Troubleshooting Common DVI Flat Panel Display Issues. Maybe it will help.

Ciao.

Sometimes if the LCD isn't receiving the native resolution or refresh rate (even on DVI-D) is not correct then this can give your symptoms.

You are not trying a forced HD resolutionon from the AIW on the monitor which may need a dual link DVI-D for a stable picture.

On my dell 24" $$$$ lcd monitor when its hooked to the DVI connector thing, it almost always blows chunks when i first turn computer on beofre monitor. dell says its "normal" and if i turn off the monitor, and re-turn it back on , it "resets" and everything goes back to normal.
if anymore TOTAL TRASH becomes "normal" with these stupid computers, i am going to get a real life instead, thall show em :-)

anyways try and turn it on and off again, as that will reset the data reading of the stream its getting.
