The 2's seem visually lighter to me, and have a much wider field of view. I would definitely recommend the 2's (but they do have a shitty glossy coating on the frames - which I blacked out).

They did fix that on the more recent models. At least the inner reflective part that would shine onto the lens.

Alright I asked this question before a while back, but now I'm actually ready to buy .

What is considered the best 3D Vision / Gsync monitor to get? I'm going to pair this with my office PC, which has inherited my GTX 780 (got a GTX 980Ti for my main gaming rig).

EDIT - Is it safe to say it's this one?

Or is there something better out there?

How badly do you want Gsync? That is a **** ton of money to spend on a monitor, IMHO. I've been very happy with my $250 Asus VG248QE 144Hz 3d monitor. As long as your video card(s) are fast enough to drive a high referesh rate regular old vsync works great.

Not really. I have been using a 120hz monitor for years and while it was nice to be able to play with vsync off and not have much issue with tearing, G-SYNC does a hell of a lot more then eliminate tearing.

I have had my new monitor for about a month now and I am pretty confident in my statement that this purchase now tops my original 3d vision set up as the best money I have ever spent in gaming.

Yes the 27" rog swift is considered to be the best option out atm for G-SYNC monitors however I do agree with the response that its a bit over priced.

I personally went with an Acer XB270H Abprz. It does lack some of the features like switching refresh rate w/o going into the CP, the on screen lazer site and the on screen counter. They are both 8bit displays and I thought with DSR that the 1080 over the 1440 gave me more options to run games at higher settigns. It is also close to half the price and allows for tilting the monitor down which is huge IMO as they both have good viewing angles from the top and sides but horrible from below.

The rog swift is the better monitor but I don't think the minor benefits justify the price premium.

The ROG also has inversion artifacts/vertical lines that becomes more visible when 3d is enabled, so that alone would make me recommend another monitor for those still interested in getting a good 3d vision monitor.

wow, why don't any of the reviews say any thing about that. That would be a deal breaker. IMO

The only thing odd that I have noticed with 3d with my monitor is that I still get crosstalk on the top and bottom quarter inch or so of the screen when the image moves across those portions of the screen quickly however once the image is closer to still, even at the edges of the screen the crosstalk is gone. this is also pretty much only noticeable with dark objects against light backgrounds if watching for it specifically as with 27" your eyes are not really looking near the top and bottom 1/4" during normal gameplay.

On my old 120hz monitor, there was pretty much crosstalk at all times on the top and bottom half inch of the screen.

Yes. But options are limited unfortunately. Only other is BenQ?

only other for what?

144hz 27inch gsync 3D monitor. The post was typed with 1440 in mind too.

I don't know of any user experiences with them, they could be worse off in other factors. That's the only one I can think of, and maybe AOC?

The ACER XB270H supports 3D but is 1080 if you don't mind it.

So I took your suggestion and got the VG248Q. I thought long and hard about it (that's what she said :bleh:), and decided it wasn't worth getting the Asus ROG. This is just going to be for my office PC, not my main gaming rig, so the cost isn't justified. I'll just be using this for games like Diablo 3, Secret World, Divinity Original sin where the text is too small for my primary 46" 3DTV gaming rig. And even then, maybe once a week or so.

So I got a 3D Vision 2 kit and the Asus VG248QE on the way.

You have $1650 worth of video cards and half that is a lot of money for a monitor that will no doubt last you much longer and is the device that actually displays the image that you paid 1600 bucks to display?

Don't mean to pick on you just never understood that mentality.

It's a pretty good monitor for it's purposes, and at a great price. Excellent for 2D 144hz gaming and does a good job of 3D (best 3D on any display I've owned). The most expensive option isn't necessarily the best option for everyone.

I find the size is perfect for competitive 144hz gaming, but is on the small side for 3D. Getting a bit long in the tooth now that I've had one for so long and am looking to upgrade to 1440p 27" myself, but a great display for it's purposes none the less and well priced.

I own one too, its a great all around display especially for its price. I just haven't used it in a very long time other than to try GTA V in 3d. I just prefer other displays for my needs.

Has anyone encountered the issue with 3d Vision where some games won't display 3d unless you go into windowed mode? I had that issue in Dead Space 2 (after previously working just fine in full screen) and seem to be encountering it more and more. Haven't been able to find any answers online yet either except references to an old feature that tells games to ignore 3d during the intro but that feature appears to have been removed from the NV control panel.

How recently did you play Dead Space? There have been known issues with the recent Steam update effecting Helix mods (or in general???). Their site suggests the games crash with steam overlay and the likes but worth a try anyways. Try disabling steam overlay or Origin in game.

This may work, no mention of fixing 3D by going into windowed mode but worth a try. If you have background apps running like MSI after burner or EVGA precision try disabling them and also any other sort of app and see if that fixes it.

Steam
Go into (Steam) settings->in-game-> disable steam community in game.
Often this no longer works because the setting is now ignored.

Origin
Certain games WILL NOT work UNLESS you follow these instructions
Log into Origin client
settings->in game-> Uncheck the box that says enable Origin in Game.

This setting will need to be unchecked everytime their is an update on origin.

Interesting. I just completed Dead Space 2 today. I first started experiecing the issue some time last week IIRC. I haven't had any crashes but I'll absolutely give the overlay disable a shot.

Thanks!

I picked up Metro Redux, playing in 3D, the intro doesn't activate 3D until I get passed that. I'm not sure if that is by default or affects of the Helix mod I installed. Are you using a Helix mod?
