No malware in Windows 10? Edge doesn't have addins? B.S.!

So in trying to find an app that will open batch zip files, I downloaded a program called "The Extractor" When the POS took about a 30 seconds to install a 2MB app, I realized what was happening and killed it.

Damage done.

I did the usual: Regedit Runs, Taskmanager Startup, Safe mode uninstall and delete.

But, when I open Edge or IE11, I get redirected to add pages and the usual, "call a number for tech support because you're an ass and we installed adware/malware on your machine..."

Windows Defender can't find anything wrong.

I'm almost at the NUKE AND PAVE level of frustration.

Do you have Malwarebytes Anti-malware installed? If not, install the Chameleon version and do a scan.

Yes, standard version. I'll try the Chameleon version you mentioned.

Ok...SEEMS to be gone.

For anyone else that gets it:

I ran Malwarebytes Chameleon again, then booted into safe mode (hold shift when selecting "Power-->Restart") and then ran disk cleanup to delete all temp paths.

DId you get it from cnet?
Is this what you downloaded?http://download.cnet.com/The-Extractor/3000-2250_4-10624213.html
Hmm....
Firefox flagged the site but MS edge didn't, neither did Trend micro nor my scanner. I submitted it for review. I'm surprise it slipped thru all those filters, this thing is quite old.
I don't get this it seems a lot well known mirror sites(Majorgeeks,en.softonic) have it for download and didn't flag it. It this a legit software?

Yup. That was it. I don't know if it was from cnet though.

I don't understand why you need a program like that. You want to extract multiple zip files? Winrar lets you extract multiple zip files to their individual folders.

Doesn't Winrar quit working once the trial period ends?

I must have had an older version or some setting was off, because it was only opening the last file in the batch (shift-clicked).
