Is there a Lupine in da house?

I am in the house. Nice to see its not a completely charred pile of rubble.

Been on a bit of a hiatus, figuring stuff out in regard to how / if I fit into the Rage3D picture moving forward. I'm getting there, and sorry for dropping off the map without warning. I let the staff know in advance, but didn't communicate with anyone else.

Thanks for helping me with the resetting password email issue! <3

I definitely will let you know if anything else happens.

Glad you're back.

What happened?
Rock climbing at a youth event back in March. Had been asked to set up a new route, that ended up being the wrong one (too high a difficulty rating for the kids). Was lead climbing it (ie placing protection on the way up) and had to down-climb when the group leader discovered it wasn't the route he thought it was. Midway down, I had to drop about 5' to get to the next foot placement. That put a ton of pressure on my knee when I hit the hold, and it buckled.

Never had knee problems, and initially figured I'd just wrenched / twisted it badly. X-rays were negative, and doctor said best course was to see if it would heal on its own. It didn't, so last week went in for the MRI. Its much worse than anyone expected. Cartilage behind the patella is toast, with fissuring and tearing, with additional fraying at the lateral meniscus.

So yeah, pretty bad. Looking into other options, but surgery seems likely. And doc is saying that anything less than full knee replacement will be a partial repair. :(

If it wasn't a complete tear of everything then I don't know why a doctor would say that? Trust me, I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn last night but I did sleep really well.

Lup, get a second opinion if you can. Problem is once that Meniscus gets damaged it opens the door for more problems down the road as it's painful enough that you start walking wrong over a long period and it stresses other parts of the knee.

Hope they can fix it without a replacement!

I'm back from a two week vacay, enjoying a nice family reunion and introducing the LupBoys to California's awesome array of National Parks.

Ended the trip w/ a sweet rafting trip along the Trinity River. Got a tad wet. :bleh:

Yes, that's me front left. Only point of contact whist underwater was my right foot in a pocket lol. Was certain I was going overboard, and still not quite sure how I didn't lol.

The knee held up fine. Surgery is on hold, and still hoping not to go that route. Was able to squeeze in one PT appt before we left, and have been pretty faithful keeping up w/ the strengthening exercises. Had another PT appt this morning, and the therapist was pleased with the progress. According to him, my stated goals of being able to rock climb, snow / water ski, and basically remain fully functional and active are achievable without surgery. We'll see but, again, am hopeful. Looking at prolotherapy as an additional treatment option, where an irritant is injected into the area to spur scar tissue growth, which apparently can function similar to cartilage.
