iOS 11

Maybe I'm not understanding this right, but why would the phone feel slower on iOS 11 over iOS 10? Both OSes feel almost the same, look almost the same, but there are some new features in iOS 11. That's all. Does Apple purposefully slow down older phones with new updates? What I'm trying to get at is it's not like going from Windows XP to Windows 10.

No clue on most of this, it's my first iPhone. What I notice is some apps when I close them (sms for example) is still sending a plain old text message and the sound plays AFTER I turn the screen off vs previous versions where the message would send and sound would play before I could hit the off button. Some other apps have audio continue after closing as well which didn't used to happen for as long a time.

More recently Facebook messenger doesn't have the keyboard pop up and occasionally won't rotate if I turn off the screen but leave the app open. To be fair not sure if this is OS related or if the app is garbage.

No noticeable difference on my wife's iPhone 7 on 10 vs 11. My iPhone 8+ gets similar battery life as my old 7+ did.
