If I upgrade from W7 to Windows 10 will I get to keep my applications (intact-ish)?

Progression

Ok so I've been postponing moving to Windows 10 because I have a lot of production focused applications installed that I would have to reinstall and configure all over again (I have over 30 applications with individual settings).

Would upgrading to Windows 10 remove most of those applications or make them unusable coming from Windows 7 specifically?

Thanks!

Depends on the application. You're gonna have to give us a list so we can tell you our experience.

Otherwise image your hard drive before the upgrade.

I'm ok with a couple of them not making it through, but I am running W7 at the moment. I've heard conflicting information on whether or not W7 installed applications can be kept in the transition to W10.

The W8.1 upgrade assistant said only 5 or so applications wont make it, and I am ok with those. But that's a W8.1 assistant not W7 so I am still not sure.

Thanks a bunch for the help btw. :p

From what I've seen, the previous OS roll back function will *usually* restore any removed applications except for the obvious ones that the installer insists you remove manually. Meaning the most part you should be able to do the upgrade, then roll back if anything unexpected/disastrous happens without consequence.

Upgraded and most of the applications work it seems, but my W10 has a lot of bugs. If I have an external HDD plugged in my Windows gets locked during the loading screen and BSODs. :hmm:

just upgraded today and everything is as it was, with one exception. had to reinstall Xfi MB3 to get sound working again. the other is, WHERE MY DAMN START MENU?

If i was you, i would not upgrade it because Windows 10 does not bring anything. You will most likely end up with lot of problems running that OS junk. If you really decide just a warning that you will have to do upgrade twice, now and then on August 2nd for Anniversary update.

Again, friendly advice...i would not upgrade.

Update: I didn't realize you already upgraded, but i guess i was right...you will end up with problems. Windows 10 is the biggest pile of crap ever released...and i am not trolling but speaking honestly.
