All electric? I cant be bothered until they get batteries that charge in 5 min.

Hybrids tho. Im all for it. Volks like Toyota also has a good hybrid for the Tiguan coming out in the next year or 2 with a ~120 hp electric motor.

Did you get a deal or did the dealer stick to around MSRP?

I heard (youtube) it's a great car.

How's the HVAC?

About hybrids:

If your family already has a long-range gas vehicle, an EV is a good choice. Hybrids add lots of extra mass and components that can fail.

But why?

If going electric why wouldn't you have gotten a Tesla Model 3? Longer range, more power, faster 0-60.

Also, what's with the capital R's?

EDIT: WAIT A GODDAMN MINUTE, THAT'S A GOLF R!

Jesus **** you got me with that one.

I hate you, but congrats brother!!! She looks gorgeous

My 4 banger days are done. When I get back from deployment in Sept2020 I'll likely be selling the Subaru and putting all that $ on a down payment for a 2017-2018 Shelby GT350. They're around 42k right now with under 10k miles. I'm also eyeing Audi RS3 prices. My limit is around 45k.

The rumors of the 2021 Golf R having the same boring power that the old models have swayed me.

Nothing wrong with a 4 banger. It's the Subaru that sucks :p

 I just want more power and something that can do more of both instead of just a twisty-turny car. The Subaru handles like a dream but sometimes I want to mash the pedal and get thrown into my seat like a ragdoll. The Subaru will do that to you all day in first and second and a bit of third but after that you're just chilling.

I think the big thing for me is that I'm already topped out on power before I'll need to get a built block, and even with that I'm dumping a lot of money into a motor and turbo and I could just get a car that starts out with more power NA and then charge or boost it from there.

The Coyote internals are bulletproof for a while and I'm not looking to go over 600whp. I can do that without building the block in a Mustang. I want more low-end torque!!

A Golf R has a mid 4s 0-60, plenty of low end power there, and plenty of headroom with a tune. Subaru blocks are made of glass, but that's not true about every other 4 banger out there. Have you driven a Mustang like you're looking at? An RS3 vs a Mustang is apples to oranges, quite honestly, seems like you're not sure what you want besides POWAHHHHH

An Audi RS3 is pretty similar to a Golf R/Audi S3, besides having an extra cylinder.

I've driven a mustang and I have extensive experience with the Golf R my buddy owns running a stage2 tune. I think my problem with the R is that VW is doing (imo) the same **** that Subaru has done with the STI - same **** every year with slight little changes. Not sure I want to pay $35-40k for that.

The RS3 is putting down a LOT of power and there's a lot of room to improve before the block needs work. Stock vs stock you're talking about 400 crank vs the ~300 on the Golf R, and both are tuned conservatively.

I know exactly how the Golf R feels. It's probably my favorite car but if VW doesn't do something creative with the 2021 MK8 I'll likely pass. I have nothing but time.

The RS3 is the balance I'm looking for in power and handling, but I love the look of the new Mustangs and the sound of those Coyote's with open headers is like ****ing music. That's what makes me look at the Mustangs.

There's some big HP Golf R's out there.

It's pretty normal to do incremental changes within a generation.
