GT5 Delayed, what, really?

Does it deserve a thread? maybe if only to say this title should be renamed to Gran Turismo Forever!!!

new release date is TBA!!! Who still cares? I seriously don't (Well only a little, just to make fun of it).

The years-in-the-making Gran Turismo 5 has been delayed. The game was slated for release this March in Japan, but publisher Sony Computer Entertainment announced today that the game's release date is now TBA.

In an official release, Sony stated the release date will be announced at a later date. The company also apologized for any trouble that this delay has caused.

GT5 was first announced at the E3 gaming expo in Los Angeles back in 2006. According to GT series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, Gran Turismo 5 has cost $60 million to make. The game will feature over 1,000 automobiles and 20 different locations.

The game was playable in 3D at the recent CES show in Las Vegas. Sony previously announced it was shooting for "Summer 2010" for a Western release. No word on how this delay will impact those plans.

****ing ridiculous.

They are being far too ambitious with this game. I hate how every racing game these days has to have every possible type of racing in existance. Stay focused and get the game on the damn shelves.

This is why Team 10 has been able to put out multiple Forza's since GT4 :D Glad I don't have to wait for GT5, with Forza 3 already out.

I'm really wondering how Sony's business model is playing out this round and how it will affect the next gen of consoles.

With the amount of time it seems to take to put out an A+ quality (graphically) PS3 title and the amount of money that costs, its bordering on ridiculous. I know Sony has deep pockets, but they've already sunk tens $60 million+ into just this one game and its still taking longer and longer (which is going to mean more $$$ being poured in). :hmm:

I always presumed the game would come out in 2011. Say, Christmas 2010.

Beyond that I'll start worrying.

Guess the PS3 won't be getting two GT games like the PS1 and PS2 did. This reminds me of the PSP version. Took them 4+ years to get that damn game out, and it doesn't even have career mode.

At this rate, the PS3 won't be getting a GT at all

Dude! GT: Prologue is the 1st on PS3!!! We will have 2.

j/k.

I like racing game, but not simulation type, I am more of a Ridge Racer 7 type of person.

Delay is good, that could mean Sony heard the feedback after the demo is released, afterall GT5 is one of their system seller, this delay could be related to 3D stuff that's coming out this year.

How can anyone be surprised that GT5 got delayed? A delay for GT5 has been more common then a release date.

Meh, doesn't bother me the delay. I've got plenty of Forza3 and GT PSP to play.

Really looking forward to see what PD does with the WRC rally stuff.

Aside, GT PSP is the most incredible portable racing game I've ever played and seen. Sheer number and variety of cars is excellent and much more impressive over Forza3 by miles.
