GM Electric Hummer

Who in the hell would take an EV into the desert?

I guess you could carry some jerry cans and a generator, but you ain't getting home any time soon.

Cracks me up that they keep advertising these things as over landers. Just make them for the roads, we they can be recharged.

my goodness iits got an 80grand US starting price.....

All electric is cool but realistically for the next 10 years Id want something more along the lines of this:

https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-ne...l-e-power-to-debut-next-year-with-new-qashqai

To recap, e-Power is Nissan’s proprietary hybrid system whereby an electric motor solely drives the wheels, while an internal-combustion engine (ICE) only ever recharges a battery pack that is larger than, say Toyota’s series-parallel hybrid battery but smaller than that used in an all-electric vehicle (EV).

Besides being comparatively inexpensive, e-Power doesn’t have anything to plug in, and is said to be some 50 per cent more fuel efficient than a comparable ICE.

Dunno why they think this is proprietary. Its not a new idea. But this is what I always wanted for a hybrid truck.

All electric power but with a gas powered generator as well as a good battery. This could give you massive range and power besides good fuel economy. I mean its the same principle behind bulldozers. Id sooner buy this than a full electric until the fancy new batts come out like Toyotas solid state batts they expect to be ready by end of the decade.

completely idiotic, but well, it's a hummer, so there's that. As usual there will be some morons who buy it anyways

Agreed. If we're to move to EVs then they need to stop with nonsense like this, and roll out cars and small SUVs/Vans with it instead that are priced like typical new cars.

EV's fall under 2 categories: Ones for rich people (Tesla, Taycan, Hummer) and econo shitboxes for the masses (Leaf, Kona, etc)

Theres no real in between right now. You either have to get something you can't afford, or you have to get something you dont really want...and its compromised in some way (usually Range)

I'd rock a Honda E but thats not available here nor does it have good range, plus i think its kind of expensive for what it is.
Im REALLY waiting on the VW ID.buzz hippy van remake. That's the one I'd want....but i dont konw when that's coming, and i fear it'll be Tesla priced.....

Plus im not ready to go EV just yet. I still want to enjoy my ICE cars!

Yeah, I'm not touching EV anytime soon myself. Maybe in 10-15 years they'll have them cheap enough, and be able to charge quickly. For now, I'll just enjoy my insanely loud V8.

Hybrids are the way to go for the next 10 years. Great fuel economy and range and more power. Theres a metric ton of them coming out the newxt couple years. Curious to see how the F150 and other pickups will do hybrid.

Hybrid trucks are a joke. You might make it to the gas station. They are too heavy already, because they're made to carry heavy stuff. Add weight from current battery tech, and you get a 7-8k pound vehicle.

24 mpg city/hw/combined with 430 hp is a pretty good start. Id prefer to see the gas engine as generator design for a truck tho. Wouldnt need a big battery for that.
