EVGA will no longer make video cards

The health of the planet is not in jeopardy because of 0.2% electrical usage from mining. Not a lot of evidence here that mining is the primary causal factor. Their other partners aren't exactly quitting along with EVGA. This seems more like EVGA had enough of dealing with those jerks.

AMD and EVGA could be made for each other sure but does AMD really need them? Not having enough partners isn't really a big problem for them. Somehow I don't see them beating down EVGA's doors. Hope I'm wrong there.
Mining is stupid and I hope it stays dead.

I don't feel sorry for EVGA because their products have always failed on me. I have an EVGA power supply in my current rig and I always wonder if it will fail very soon because I have been burned by an EVGA motherboard and a videocard.

Nvidia will always be a scummy company in my eyes and they don't seem to care about AIB'S but then again it's all business.

I hope AMD's next generation of videocards can be a serious competitor so I can go back to them.

After all the faulty FTW3 3090s they put out they must have lost a lot doing replacements. However, I was hoping they'd learn from that and make a very reliable FTW 4090 this year as their support was good and their cards more readily available here. Oh well, guess I'll be looking for an ASUS card this time.

Linus talking about nvidia, evga, how crazy vindictive nvidia can be, just how difficult it can be to work with from the perspective of media and retailers.

Crazy stuff, they are basically acting like assholes towards EVERYONE, it's no wonder that everyone tried to stop their ARM requisition.

i don't get the not wanting to betray NV by doing AMD and Intel cards

after all this bad press that door is closed NV will never sell them anything ever again

they exposed the jacket as the asshole he is
as this holier than thou attitude all come from him

i think soner or later they will have to make AMD and Intel cards

too much money in all that hardware to make cards

As long as they continue to try and risk to innovate gaming -- that's my main desire. The negatives to me was when Nvidia was young as a company -- too aggressive on optimizations behind the gamers and developers' back -- and marketing. Really appreciated a Nvidia blog years and years ago talking about their long and winding road of the past and admitted to their mistakes and learned from them.

Can EVGA continue to be profitable long term without selling graphics cards?

Are peripherals, power supplies, and a few motherboards going to pay the bills?

Seems questionable.

I don't think so. Their PSUs were amazing, now they're poor quality. Peripherals are meh. They sell some $4000 case that is a joke...

I have no idea how EVGA will survive without the GPU business, unless they will work with AMD at some point. I think it's too late for them to hop on the 7000 series.

EVGA still makes great motherboards, but they make two SKUs and both are geared towards high-end.. good luck sustaining a business with that model.

Especially with most of their customers and awareness were created by the GPU segment of EVGA. Sadly, without the GPU segment the company may become irrelevant.

Meh, never bought a single EVGA product. Majority won't notice or care the EVGA video cards are absent.

Look at the miners, people care not about any morals, brand, cost or anything as long as they get what they are after.

EVGA is by far the largest in terms of brand recognition in North America, outside of ASUS. It's a guarantee that normal customers will be asking "hi, why don't I see any EVGA 4060s? Are they out of stock?"

EVGA dropping off will be noticed by more than the enthusiast community.

100% agreed, sad day.

 Why now? EVGA is pissed they can't sell 1000's of cards to the miners any longer. Nividia refused to compensate. They butt-hurt and are essentially abandoning their customers.

I think it's really about nV FE cards undercutting all other AIBs in price.

Agreed....but the mining gravy train has also left the building so now evga is stuck with high end cards (that is on evga) selling at a loss. Thanks to FE cards selling hundreds less now days. I've owned a couple of their motherboards over the years and they were good one as well. But they've all but abandoned the mb market.

I don't entirely agree, but I respect your opinion

EVGA definitely overextended during the mining/covid boom, but since their main market is NA, they are the ones that are hit the hardest by the FE-cards since NA AFAIK is the only market where you can go to a store and pick up a founders edition card, in the rest of the world they are online-only.

If an EVGA version was available when I’ve bought, that’s what I went with. I mean, hopes and dreams won’t be crushed if I ever start building again, but I’ll certainly notice their absence.

I’ve had plenty of good performers from other brands too though, so this isn’t a major deal for me. Surprising, yes, but not a major deal.

Agreed, a bad mix of oversupply and not being able to sell for less by contract.
