DDR400 RAM Question

Had to replace my motherboard this weekend (after it failed) and replaced it with a new Gigabyte 800fsb board ready for when i can afford to replace my old P4 2.4ghz 533fsb with a 2.8ghz 800fsb.
My question is this............will I see a noticable difference in performance if I replace my single 512mb DDR333 stick of ram with a pair of 256mb DDR400 dual channel sticks?

Probably not, as your processor FSB (Front Side Bus) - 133Mhz - will not be able to run synchronous with the RAM Bus - 200Mhz (which is optimal). The dual channel aspect wil not be that noticeable. Get the best RAM you can afford once you can afford the new P4 - the 800Mhz FSB ones overclock well.

Of course it will. P4's with 800Fsb are memory hungry cpu's. Single channel Pc 3200 genereally isn't enough, dual channel it and you'll meet the P4's peak mem bandwidh of
6.4 gb/s.

On AMD platform's dual channel is has a very small increase in performace, due to the CPU not being able to utilize the extra memory bandwidth.

BTW don't forget to OC that P4 :p

Too lazy to quote, but anyways he said pair so he will have dual channel.

Anyways it should run in sync but the ram will run at 133 instead of 200 but you'll still get dual channel so it won't be too bad. it probably wont' be that impressive till you have the 800 fsb p4 as they can actually use the memory bandwidth better compared to the 533 fsb p4s since it'll just eat thru that 6.4 gig/s or whatever (well suppoused 6.4 but you;ll probably see lower if you runa memory benchmark) compared to the 4.2 of the 533 p4s
