Chris Roberts Space Garage Simulator: Star Citizen

Not touching it until and if that is ever finished. It's basically the only reason I ever bought the thing to begin with.

I was lured in with the CR name since I was a huge wing commander fan back when I was a wee laddybuck.

Same here but something told me to hold off giving $, glad I did.

Did they ever complete the single player portion of this game? Squadron 42?

It was planned for release in 2016 (2014?). The thing has been pushed back and back. They are most likely scrapping large portions of it as Croberts micro-manages the project and wants to put new features in it from other games.

I watched a little of the q&a today. When the topic of dynamic clouds was mentioned in chat, the dev indicated that technology is still being developed. For me that response sums up a lot of questions. All pointing directly at a long ways off until a release.

Great news guys! SQ42 is "almost" done...

During February, a new animator was trained and worked through several increasingly complex scenes. They began with relatively simple finger polishing work before moving onto more involved mess-hall and tram scenes.
The wider team undertook a comprehensive review of chapters one and five before prototyping new animations to meet the latest direction.

Because why NOT add unnecessary technology features instead of finishing up the core game?

They should start focusing on important things like a robust fluid simulation for the drinks that the bartender serves.

I don't know why CR hasn't been investigated for fraud. There's no way a good development team with virtually unlimited funds couldn't finish this game within 6-7 years. What I've seen of it so far looks like something thrown together by Derek Smart. Where is all that money going?

The money is going into remaking things over and over until they're perfect. Updating tech and then updating assets. Then adding features that croberts sees in other game. This really is a case where perfect is the enemy of good.

because no one really cares, the game reside within niche genre of gaming that can't get mainstream attention while everything fraudulent that happened financially are overlooked under the pretense of "gaming is still just for kids"... maybe...?

a "good" dev team wouldn't partake in such an obvious scam to start with.....

And about the legal investigation, well, i'm sure he made sure to get away with his bs from the start.

Still surprising none of the scammed gamers has tried it so far (that we know of)

several people tried, but it circled back right to your 2nd sentence... the atrocious US legal system killed the efforts.

You just need to get one or more State Attorney Generals interested in the scam. MA Maura Heely loves going after shady corporations that are fleecing citizens.

Or get Elizibeth Warren onboard and start having congressional hearings on the subject of indefinite crowdfunding. Make sure to subpoena Roberts.

that would take a massive effort for the individuals, and so far nobody bothered that much to band together and do that.. also most people who feel scammed usually didn't invest that much so they usually let it slide... while those who are invested that much usually already deep in the delusion so they don't even feel wronged.

it's all really down to the US legal system, from what I read throughout the years, the legal dispute that some people did literally shot down by trivialities like : "oh you sued the wrong company" or that "well you accepted the EULA" etc
