**** used to last for years, now you get some kind of issue with double clicks or faulty scroll wheel in what feels like no time.

Or is it just logitech that has decided that build quality no longer matters?

Been fine with G5 and 518 that I saw.
Old stuff for me also used to have bad cable at the 3 year mark. The current logitechs I have are in year 4 so expecting a bad cable.

I've had my G703 Lightspeed for quite some time, and moved twice with it. Zero issues, tracks perfectly still and no double/loose clicks. I can't say I've had much issue with Logitech QC.

You could check out the "remake" Logitech MX518 - Logitech took the old design and basically re-released it as far as I know.

The only mouse I've had that had issues was the Microsoft Habu. Everything else has lasted years and years. And I've still got the Habu's warranty replacement (Sidewinder X5).

But something with optical switches may solve your issues. Consider something like a Razer Viper, Basilisk v3, Deathadder v3, or the new G502X.

I have to imagine, there is a community out there for 3D printing a mouse. So you can have a super solid feeling body, user swapable button switches and a killer sensor.

Most people get into one company and just keep that going. When a keyboard or mouse kills over they just go back to that company and buy a replacement. It's easier than buying 1 brand of keyboard, mouse, and mouse-pad every time something dies on them.

Plus, most mice are inexpensive. So, it's easier...

There are some pretty cool high end mice around. A lot of them come with a high-end price tags too.

I personally like this one. It's $305 USD.

They have a lot of different colors too.

Hard to call that mouse high-end when they don't even list the sensor it's using. Seems like it's focused on aesthetics.. which I find strange because who looks at their mouse

Logitech switches always go quickly. If you want to keep using the same mouse, then learn to solder and buy extra switches.

The scroll wheels I haven't been able to find extra parts for.

never really had any problems with gaming mice, heck i still use a 2014 Razer Abyssus for the most part. Never was a Logitech fan, but that's just personal taste.

That kind of falls in the older stuff category though.

And for you 502 peeps, I hear you, it's the only modern one that has not had any issues with the scroll wheel.

I just wanted a slightly different shape last year which ended with me trying a 603, 703 and g-pro, the pro and 603 have problems with the scroll wheel randomly moving one tick without the wheel actually moving, and the wheel on the 703 straight up failed.

And the g-pro also double clicks on a single click.

And meanwhile my old g5 and 518 from back in the days just keeps on working, but they're wired so I rather not use them anymore.

My big mouse problem is that ever since the Revo MX I've been stuck with Logitech because I'm addicted to the hyperscrolling wheel clicking on and off. I can't use a 'puter properly without hyperscroll

I have had issues with Logitech switches going bad, but everytime I have Logitech has just sent me a new mouse. They're excellent about warranty coverage and if I have a problem it's usually a 15-20 minute phone call hopping through a few troubleshooting hoops and then a replacement is on the way.

I sort of feel bad. I got a new G502 a few months ago because my left button wasn't dragging and dropping properly, it wouldn't stay held. Then while they were shipping me a new one I cleaned the hell out of my mouse figuring I had nothing to lose, and it's now working well. Gave the other G502 to my daughter.

TL/DR - Logitech support and warranty coverage is excellent, also hyperscroll rocks.

in the states maybe, over here not so much

I wasn't aware of that, noted. I will mention that every time I recommend them with the disclaimer, "At least in the US they're good, other country's I've heard your mileage may vary", or some such.

Really do appreciate the info, would it be rude to ask what country you had trouble from?

nothing rude about asking although you could've gathered that information by simply looking at my profile. I'm from crazy krautland.

And yes, prices and customer service varies a LOT in different countries. Or as you would put it, YMMV.

have a nice one

I currently use a wired 8 Khz Razer Viper. I've been using it for at least a year (maybe 2) for at least 8 hours a day. I have no issues with it.

Thanks, you also. Would you believe me if I told you I totally forgot about profiles? I really did until after I posted.

you're welcome. Feel free to ask anything about that crazy part of the world if needed.

As for modern mice, well, i've got a Razer Basilisk V3 Pro which works like a charm and as a backup an ERAZER X81666. That being said, i haven't had a failing mouse or keyboard in the last couple of years at all.
