ATI HDMI Audio updates

"ATI HDMI Audio Device" drivers are provided by Realtek for the R600 and newer ASICs. [likely a key component to HDMI output]

I know it isn't required in vista but they sure don't tell you a whole lot about the driver and if you can use it to update vista's driver.

:hmm: update vista's driver?

Install this if you have an ATI card with onboard sound (i.e. HD2x00 series or newer, I believe).

Yes I realize that, But the driver doesn't state if you can use it to update the Vista HDMI driver for sound. Is it XP only or both. I really don't feel like messing up my currently working vista HDMI sound with my HD4850. Although I think it could use some updating as it isn't perfect. I think my HD2900XT might have sounded a bit better. That's why I'm asking if its for vista as well.

Install the driver.

Ok can confirm it works with vista and updates the driver and gives you more options as well. So its safe for vista too.:D

HDMI audio working on my HD4870 w/ my Pioneer VSX-1018 receiver :)

Got a 7.1 option with these drivers in Vista :D

This is only for use if you have realtek onboard or will it work for other onboard audio??

Look in the General Software forum for the Realtek onboard audio driver updates thread. Version R2.00 is released for onboard recently as well.

Thanks I do not have realtek onboard audio and was concerned that with this being from the realtek site, it was only for people with realtek sound on their motherboards, but from what you're saying this is applicable for anyone with the 2900xt onwards, regardless of their MB audio!
