I also remembered that people were celebrating the new millennium back then at the turn of the year 2000.
But how can that be? There was no year 0, it went from year 1 BCE to year 1 CE. If the year 10 marked as the 2nd decade of the calendar then there was no 1st decade since it only went from 1-9.
Same thing with the millennium count, if the year 1000 marked as the beginning of the 2nd millennium then the first millennium didn't exist since there was only 999 years.
