6800 Ultra Quality Issue's

The beast can perform well, there's no doubt about it, but look at the weak quality in Far Cry with the shader's.

Is it a driver glitch or is the the quality their pushing on people from now on? Cuz the ati card looked much nicer in every shot!

"As it stands, the current image quality in FarCry is simply unacceptable for the GeForce 6800 Ultra - especially in light of such superior performance. "

Those shots surley do NOT put a good light on this product.
It seems like the #'s are rocking for the 6800U, but the blockiness ( partial prescision leftover from NV call?) is disturbing.
We'll have to wait and see I guess.

hm.. yeah.. there seems to be anamolies with both geforce's... are they using the 3.0 shader path?

Nope - 3.0 shader support isn't exposed in either the drivers or DirectX yet.

It's a bit harsh to push the blame on nVidia for the Far Cry issue, as by all accounts it's a game problem introduced by the 1.1 patch.

Hanners was that patch for NV cards calling for partial precision?
Thats what it looks like, and it is NOT affecting the XT IQ that I can see.

I'm honestly not sure what precision it's using, but it's certainly messed something up in the NV3x path.

Hell yeah, that's pretty ******:

OMFG, get over it. Hard OCP in their review has already stated that it is an issue with the 1.1 patch! Read the reviews instead of just looking at the pictures. They said it's a driver problem and will be fixed by the time the retail boards come out. I have seen so many pics of the Far Cry crap but nobody has bothered to say that it is a bug.

Oh wait i remember reading somewhere they also had some weird sort of wavy lines on and airplane wing i think it was a review testing the card on a Flight Sim i could be wrong though. Maybe it could be a problem with the drivers :P

Yeah i saw that also! I hope its just because the drivers are still in beta! But for now those plains looked alot better on the ati card. Anyone else have any input on this?

adding to the fact that Far Cry is asking to render using the NV35 codepath NOT the NV40 way that shader model 3.0 updates will bring...

just wait and see

Kind of funny that Nvidia going back to the "standard DX path" is breaking their
old way of doing things.

I'm glad Nvidia is doing it the right way though instead of trying to push forth
their own proprietary method. Humble Pie time... :)
