![]() All the components to my HT are done. 32" widescreen LCD Onkyo HTiB Harmony 680 Remote Toshiba Upconverting DVD player PS2 ![]() edit: and before anyone asks, I have a bunch of movie posters in my house....It dosen't mean I like the movies, it was just something to decorate the blank white walls. The only one I actually like is the framed Scarface picture at the top of the pic. It's really the only one I paid for. Last edited by NYHecK : Apr 1, 2006 at 07:59 PM. |

![]() I was thinking about getting one of those, but I don't think I will get the full benefit on my 720p 32" LCD. |

It was $499 like someone said, comes with HDMI cable too. I also got the Best Buy $40 4 year warranty. Seen some internal pics, looks like the drive is a regular pc drive type design, a NEC model, probably will be available for pc later. It has a 1gig DDR 2700 333mhz stick of ram in it. The japan model had reported the cpu being a 2.5ghz Mobile Pentium 4, it's not known yet if the american model is the same. It also has built in decoders for lossless audio formats over the 5.1 analog audio out, just like you'd connect a Super Audio or DVD audio player. Many have reported 1080i setting looks better even on a 720p tv compared to actually setting the player to 720p. There are no 720p specific only movies to test this further. Most Best Buys got 3-5 units and started selling them Thursday or Friday I think. One is probably marked for display, so by now there might not be any players left for people to act on the Best Buy ad that offers a gift card with purchase of player and media togethor. And since the ad said nothing about the 18th, I can probably get them to sell them to me Monday. Probably time for a new thread about this if there isn't one yet than to continue talking talking about it in here.

![]() Nah, I think my TV is a little on the small side. When the players are more reasonable in price and availability, and when the media is more common, I'll get one. Normal DVD's played through my HTPC look fantastic right now. |

![]() My Harmony 880...love it. ![]() Wide view. You can see my poor PC stuffed in the corner. ![]() Stuff underneath.. ![]() My comfy couch.. ![]() The TV is a Sony(blah) KV-34S510. After having a Sony DVD player, Mavica, and PS2 die on my I swore never to purchase something from them again but this was at a price I couldn't refuse and I thought I'd give them another shot. The TV is got a few issues as well. Oh well... The Pioneer VSX-815 reciever is a great low cost unit. Read. I purchased the entire speaker system at once from Best Buy. They are all Yamaha and are a "set"(center, Left, Right, Rear Right, Rear Left, and sub). When you purchase them in a group like this BB will discount the thing like 20% or something because they only ended up costing me about $750 or so. Right now Im actually using my Xbox360 as a DVD player. My kids wrecked my JVC and the tray would not stay out when you pushed the open button. The DVD drive in the 360 is FAST. I surprised at how fast the movie would start up compaired to my old JVC. I'm sorta waiting to hear more about the HD-DVD before getting one but thats the plan. I have the silver package threw Cablevision(New Jersey) and get the HD TV stuff on a HD recordable unit from them. It's pretty nice. Yeah I don't want to hear anything about the freakin decorations or the blue freakin paint job. My wife insists it be blue. Uggg. Edit: Man I forgot to add in my DVD storage cabnet. I picked it up at Lowe's for $5. I found it with a $5 sticker on it and I asked them if it was really $5 and they said yes. It had to be a mistake. ![]()

![]() I decided to upgrade my old sunfire tg3 receiver to the new sunfire Theater grand processor preamp and a sunfire tga 7400 amplifier. And I added two more legacy audio surrounds to get from 5.1 to 7.1. From 6 yrs in the making i finally got it all together. Within the next few or more yrs might add a hd dvd or blue ray and a new 1080p hd tv but in no hurry. Complete Sunfire theater grand processor 5 Sunfire tga 7400 amplifier Mitsubishi ws55413 hd tv samsung hd931 hd dvd player sony cdpcx355 cd player legacy audio signature 3 7.1 speaker system custom built sub system is a carver zrx3200 amp powering 2 18inch kicker (yep car audio subs that kick ass) solo-x 2 ohm subs, amp is pushing 1600 watts x2 at 2ohm. custum built in a 20+ cubic foot enclosure in a stair well. Plus the whole room and especially the stair well has been reinforced with soundproofing and overall structure strengthening to kill all the vibrations. Im totally satisfied If anyone here loves not only loud but chest thumping high qaulity sound at any volume here ya go. I literally scared the crap out of alot of friends that come over for parties, feeling there having a heart attack or something over the chest pounding bass lol. |

![]() I have my sound card's rear channel outputting to the Logitech sub and rear satellites. The front channel gets the Alesis amp that's feeding the Aiwa bookshelves. I even have my Audigy's center channel outputting to an Aiwa speaker that doesn't have phantom power but still gets sound! I did all this because I don't have an AV receiver. For cable TV I just use the TV speakers.
