![]() I've been using the 3082 (I THINK that's the #) drivers since I got my 8500 retail. These were the first "beta" drivers available from ATI. They're still available under their "unsupported" drivers section. Anyhow, I've noticed that this is the ONLY driver that doesn't have massive slowdowns when there is a smoke effect in a game. The 2 big culprits being MOH and Wolf. All other drivers take a HUGE hit when there is smoke on the screen. Is this the case with everyone? Is there anything you can do with the new drivers to eliminate the smoke lag? More importantly, why does an OLD driver perform better with smoke than ALL the 60xx drivers? TIA, Zaph |

![]() Hi Zaph. Try the 6043 drivers set. Those seem to correct the smoke problems that many are experiencing. Yesterday there was a new revision of the 6043 set released to developers only and apparently fixed many MOH bugs. However, to date, the 6043 set is the best yet for gaming, DVD and 2D quality. Grab the 6043 set off the front page. Cheers, Candyman

![]() I would most certainly try the 6043 set with a nice clean install which is posted in a sticky thread in the technical section and let us know your findings. You should notice major frame rate increases with this set, without any stuttering issues. Regards, Zardon. |

![]() I tried the new drivers, and noticed an all around increase in FPS. But smoke is still slow. I did a timedemo with the new drivers and it's still slower than the 30xx drivers. EVERYTHING is faster - but smoke. Are there any tweaks in radeonator or anything for smoke? Too bad the games I play have smoke - otherwise I'd be happy. ![]() |

![]() 60xx drivers had 400points higher for me in 3dmark2k1, but the only feature they messed up from 32xx is when I use video out it looks weird on my svga monitor but on the tv it looks fine... weird |
