Yeah, doesn't mine as well because the memory bandwidth is poor.

The hash difference is fitting for 448gb/s vs 512gb/s. Infinity Cache doesn't do anything - card still performs exactly as a 256-bit bus with gddr6 would.

AMD needs to make a big step with memory on the 7000 series, otherwise it'll be the limiting factor on the card at 4K. If they increase memory throughput, you'll see the mining capability skyrocket.

I truly hope they don't make the mistake of a 256-bit bus again, and drop the gimmick infinity cache that did nothing for the 6000 series.

Not me. If the 7900 turns out to be as good a card as you think (taken with a grain of salt) and costs £1,500 I'll probably buy it TBH. THe only caveat is it has to be air cooled as I don't do water cooling. Well not yet anyway

And before you say anything, yes I've tended to slag off AMD drivers but to be fair I did own AMD cards for 10 years so I earned the right.

badsykes prices are not coming down anytime soon I'm afraid. Here in the UK we're back to working from home if you can (I can but I don't..I'm a rebel) so prices are going up again on GPU's. A new 6900XT is £1,800 and a new 3090 £2,100.

I saw a 2nd hand Palit 3090 in a nationwide retail store for £2,300 and for a laugh I asked them how much they would give me for my card and they offered me £1,800 or £250 more than I paid for it and it's 12 moths old this week.

They had a Red Devil 6900XT for £1,200 so I could have sold my card and pocketed £600. I politely declined their offer.

The moral of this story is the 7700 is not going to be half the price and as powerful as a 6900XT. Sadly high prices will be with us for longer than people think because there are people who will pay the price.

Let's say miners will replace most of their cards .... The second hand market will reiceive a flood of 3000 series and 6000 series that now in retail costs hefty prices ?

nope unless proof of stake ever gets turned on but it's over what a full year late now and not going in to june now

they keep pushing it off 6 months

without that most miners will keep going with the 3000 cards they got and keep sucking up all of both 3000's and 4000's they can get
hell some are using 3060's or lower and 2000 cards for mining now

or bitcoin dropping back to 2000 or lower

ETH will die a slow death if it doesnt goto POS. You have other chains that are POS that are starting to catch up like Polygon.

But if those prices are msrp well then its game over. I know I wont be paying 500$ for some low end 128 mem bus crap.

but we are in the same boat this time as when the 2000's came out only now bitcoin is higher and still going

The 3080ti is more than 5-10% but again, you'll latch on to what fits your narrative. I had a 3080 and now a 3080ti.. not even close to 5-10% especially when tuned.

Their job is to make profits just like AMD. I didn't see you blasting Ryzen 5000 even though they overpriced the entire lineup due to a lack of competition...

i've bought more Intel CPU's than AMD'S i had only Intel from my AMD 486 to my 1800x
and more NV cards for a lot longer then you have had AMD cards hell i had NV cards before GeForce

and i skipped the AMD 5000's also as not a big deal over the 3000's

Just because AMD makes products that aren't worth purchasing, doesn't make me anti-AMD. I'm sorry the truth hurts.

Not sure how the difference between a 3080 and 3080ti being wider than 5-10% makes me anti-AMD, but that's logic only you possess

badsykes there are always people who will pay the price. Sadly I used to set a limit above which if I didn't think it was value I wouldn't buy. Now I'm not too bothered. At my age I probably have more money than time left so if I want it I'll buy it. Not rocket science really

Firstly Merry Christmas to everyone at Rage3D. I have to agree with bill on this and it might take till 2024 for supply/demand to recover and prices to stabilise. Don't think my card will become obsolete over that time so happy to play a waiting game.
