There are no 6800 cards in Europe, Australia & Canada and to all intents and purposes the USA. Is that a well executed launch then. As you say NWR the math isn't difficult.

I wish you good luck on that purchase. ETA 16th December or if anything like the PS5 launch when people pre-ordered off Amazon you might get an email pushing it back to Feb/March. At least with Amazon you don't pay until it ships. You've paid 25% over MSRP for zero performance gain. You pays your money you takes your choice.

Talking of Amazon and the PS5 they've had to apologise to customers today who received fridges, microwaves and even cat food instead of the PS5 Apparently they're looking into it. I never buy any high price item off them TBH.

Right clearly. If they deny the price reduction request I'm going to keep my bot running to see what else I can get. Also, checking my credit card to see if they have price protection offered.

Worst case, I have a guy on discord who is willing to sell me a sapphire reference card for his cost plus ship. It's riskier than the amazon order, but it feels legit to me so far so I may just go ahead and risk that instead then cancel the gigabyte once it all goes through.

How much for for a 6800? Do they actually exist? I like his comment that if you have a decent card just don't upgrade right now at these obscene prices. AMD are ****8ing us over by over charging the AIB's who supply cards to us. Don't buy them. You don't really need them. I'm staying with my 5700XT for now.

Looks like my VISA has price protection. Seems I have a few options.

1. Gigabyte ships on Dec 16th. Get price matched via CC price protection.
2. Cancel the order now. Pick up the sapphire from a nerd I met over discord and risk a private sale for less money, that would get here quicker.
3. Do nothing, and try to get the 6900XT on launch. Cancel Gigabyte if I get an order through.

Only thing that really concerns me about the amazon order now is whether it actually ships on time or if it gets pushed back. I could get the sapphire a lot sooner, but it is a bit riskier being a private sale over the internet.

You missed the point(s) completely. What fab Nvidia used has zero to do with my point(s). If AMD released the cards back in September along with Nvidia, you would have a partial argument (which has nothing to do with my response aboit 3 million consoles sold) bit they didn't. They released them when all shipping is at its max capacity due to the Holidays, unlike NVidia. The consoles started mass production Months ahead of both NVidia and AMD. Which means they started stock piling those consoles around the world in distribution centers located near major retailers months ago, before either NVidia or AMD even announced their GPUs, and the consoles where announced months prior, with the release date announced 6 weeks before AND even announced their product. Currently, because cargo ships are sitting in bays, not being unloaded because of lack of man power brought on by the pandemic, as well as the Holiday shipping is something that NVidia didn't have to deal with at launch.

AMD's demand was also increased because of the 3080 fiasco. It takes a minimum of 90 days to fabricate the processor chip, plus the final manufacturing process of the completed GPU, which means AMD would have had to put off their release to compensate for the 3080 shortages pushing people to them, or would have had a crystal ball that allowed them to see into the future 4+ months ago to start preparations earlier.


Now you want to argue about fabs? How many product skews at release did NVidia have to worry about that came from samsung? (A: 2, the 3080 and the 3090, which they have expanded on since to 5, 2 months later). How many skews does AMD have worry about? (A: 6 to 7 products skews coming from TSMC, not counting their console side. GPU: 6800, 6800xt, soon to be released 6900xt (the seventh skew), CPU: 5600xt, 5800xt, 5900xt, 5950xt). They will also be adding to their skews over the next couple months. So the bothsides argument isn't even valid when you put things into perspective.


Now with all due respect, you have seen nothing but red (not AMD red) for months constantly seeing only the negative about AMD and at times Nvidia for weeks, if not months. Try looking at things from a different perspective more positive perspective and, because right now, you are missing a lot by not doing so.

That’s a death sentence for Amazon video card delivery. I ended up canceling my 3080 from them after mine changed to that status after they failed to deliver.

I do feel something will "explode" in their faces (both Nvidia and AMD) with this launch and BS, deceit with prices and so on...The public is enraged and 2020 was already on fire and people got burned from this direction also... I will get a popcorn because this will go deeper in investigations and revelations...
Very very childish move from both companies...On the other hand maybe is not about the cards this time around but the policy and attitude and some revelations ....

The irony is i personally need a CPU more than a GPU and at least in my country the 5000 series was continously restocked and are at MSRP.No problems here..

It's only been 9 days since AMD's launch. There are people who have summitted pictures on reddit of Microcenters with a bunch of 6800 (non XT) on display for sale days after launch, as well as people who have been able to snag one. No articles came out calling Nvidia's a paper launch that I saw, but a few about it NOT being a paper launch (I may have missed them, but I tend to spend my nights at work looking for the end of the internet because of teh slow boring job I am doing right now due to the cut backs). A lot of people and hardware sites, gave Nvidia every excuse known to man, and blamed it on bots/scalpers/demand. It just seems, all though there are different metrics at play now than there was 2 months ago, that AMD is getting judged by a much stricter set of rules, they also have more than double the demand that normal because of the pissed off people who couldn't get a 3080/3090. That's all. I suspect shipping is a huge factor. Costco has had a warning on their web site for over a month now about shipping delays. So it shows that shipping issues is far reaching.

they was nothing in the first 3 to 4 weeks on the 3080 but ebay .
till EVGA set up the queue and got it going and not that much now after what 10+ weeks

Billy, we are not talking about the 3080 here, stop making AMD out to be something different. Also I would be more concerned about this 1 off nonsense from AMD. If true that would definitely be dirtier then NV. Do you really think your getting a 6900XT anytime soon, when they disappear within seconds? It also looks like the price is going to much closer to the 3090 then we all thought.

Based on what has been happening with CPUs it is obvious that there is a shipping issue more than a manufacturing issue as sites have been taking preorders based on expected arrival dates of parts. its not that they are waiting to be produced it is waiting for the actual shipment to be received. Welcome to logistics management in a pandemic.
