I'll get this started with some shots from CoD, STBC, and TW2004.

If you're going to post screenshots in this thread, please provide information such as resolution, AA/AF settings, etc, as well as a visible FPS diplay (using FRAPS or an in-game FPS counter) ... Also, please resize your shots to 800x600 (with a link to the original, full-size image) to make it easier to navigate the thread.

Star Trek: Bridge Commander Man I miss that game. I had it but never beat it , then I ended up trading a bunch of games in at EB games to get Max Payne 2. Which I really like, but now I miss Bridge Commander.
Hard to find too. I had to get mine on ebay.

Now, here are two more shots which I thought were interesting.

In this first shot, notice the "ghost" along the wings of the birds. Is this some sort of motion-blur effect? They look great
in-game, but when I saw this screen it caught my attention ...

And last but not least, notice what "Ultra High" water looks like in the third person. Translucency plus refraction and reflection!!
Very cool effect, looks awesome in motion ...

How the hell you see the character in far cry ?

also , I see one pic shows 29 fps , that is unacceptable for me , I realy thought that when u get a card like this , you should get 70-80 fps .

To get the 3rd person view in FC use -devmode at the end of the FC shortcut/target. Then it's f1 when you're in-game.

So what does that make your card at those settings, I would be suprised if you made 15 fps

well, you could always run your games at 800x600 res and get over 100fps.

Ok - These are a bit big so please don't shoot me! There is degradation from the fact I had to downsize the file from their original size of 2 to 3 MB's to get them uploaded to the host site. These were all taken with all the graphic settings set to max. I was going for a panoramic look with these.

This thread just proved to me that spending $500+ on this card like some people are for a lousy 29 fps in far cry is NOT worth it. I think I'm gonna wait on the 800 XT to come out and buy that instead at a more reasonable price. Or I might just skip this gen altogether b/c I'm seriously not impressed with the numbers I'm seeing.

Dude that's at 2048x1536 with AA applied on my shots. I actually play this game at 1600x1200 with 4xAA and maintain an average FPS in the 50s. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

I was referring to mavis's first shot actually. I do not want a next gen card to get anywhere that kind of dip during gameplay at any point. If it does then it doesn't seem worth $500+ to me.

It's not always the vpu's performance causing the low framerates, (I don't know if that is the case in these screenshots or not).

I also I suggest you steer way clear of the 6800 cards which tend to suffer much more from minimum framerates as witnessed in the HardOCP review.

$500 cards are for the people who want the fastest thing on the planet right now and there hasn't been this significant a performance boost since the 9700pro was released.

he's also running with 4xAA and 16xAF. Lord knows you could turn that down for better framerates...

Someone asked some questions about my shots at the other graphics card section of Nvnews so I figure I would post this here in case someone wonders why the vegetation in some of the shots looks "low res" or why there are jaggies in some of the pictures.

The game looks better than the pics - I took panoramic shots. The Fort shot is close quarters and is a better indicator of what the game looks like - I have everything maxed out in the graphical settings. Also the bottom two pics don't have anti-aliasing. The original pics were over 2MBs in size and they don't look quite as good when I had to resample them.

Oh, and the image has been expanded here - the image is much tighter when actually running at 2048x1536 and the jaggies are barely noticeable.

Yeah i understand ... 2048 is still crazy to run with a full DX9 game with so much detail farcry has. I wana see a 6800 do that!

Well someone at Nvnews has a 6800 Ultra and he has been posting his impressions on it - he's pretty cool because he had an ATI card before and has been offering his unbiased opinions. He gets good framerates but not as high as the X800XT PE as his card takes a bigger hit with AA on and the 6800 Ultra's minimum frame rates are lower than the X800XT. This is important since I can play a game that manages to stay close to 30 FPS at all times as opposed to one that occasionally drops into the teens.

Well I can't wait till I get my X800XT PE,because when I had the X800Pro I was playing FryCry at 1280x960 with 6xFSAA and 16x Aniso and it played great, now I know it is just going to be that much better.

I've finished CoD on 1280 or 1600 months ago on my current rig w/ 4xAA+8QAF but I never got such a low fps IIRC. This is important since I can play a game that manages to stay close to 30 FPS at all times as opposed to one that occasionally drops into the teens.
