Very much agreed. 3 was the only one I didn’t really care for, but I enjoyed the first 2 quite a bit.

I agree with this. FEAR 2 was the best one for me.

I've always said that FEAR 1 was like a confused director who couldn't make up his/her mind on what direction to take. An action film? Or straight up horror? The two was forced together and it showed. Not to mention, all of the horror sequences were straight ripoffs from Ju-on and Ringu (The Grudge and The Ring). To me that was unforgiveable and undeserving of praise since the horror parts couldn't even be original (long hair creepily flowing down a security cam, gee where else did i see that from?).

Fear 2 to me was a much better balance between horror and action and the story was actually pretty decent as well.

hmm, i didnt see that at all. ive seen both versions of both movies and i thought fear 1 was great. I didnt get any seen this before moments in the whole game.

EDIT: not to mention Fear 1 was one of the first games to modify the terrain like that in real time. Which was pretty epic at the time.

I never felt like they were confused about the direction, fear was an action game that used horror elements to break the monotony instead of the usual methods like turret sequences or stealth sections.

Fear 3 still a lot of fun. Stopped caring about the story line, just had fun with the battles. With good speakers you can almost feel the kick of that assault rifle through your mouse.
