Default Wasteland 2...

Apparently Fargo is making the sequel to Wasteland, the game that inspired the Fallout games:

Quote:
A few days ago, we reported that Brian Fargo might, in fact, be working on a successor to Wasteland. The boards were abuzz with speculation and hope. Well, we got word from the man himself. Brian Fargo, the founder of Interplay and the producer of the original Wasteland, told DAC the following:

I am indeed looking into bringing back the game that spawned the Fallout series. Stay tuned....

whoa...if this comes true then this is indeed big news! Wasteland was revolutionary. I remember spending hours on that game doing absolutely nothing but making myself ultra powerful. Awsome news!

I've actually never played Wasteland. Can someone tell me what it was like?

Was it a free-roaming, free-play Fallout? Was it Zork, or Ultima?

I've never played it either but if it inspired Fallout it must have been hell of a game.

I look forward to this it should make up for the sucking Fallout 3 will do.

I remember trying it out briefly and it was pretty interesting from what I played.

I think it was kind of a grid based movement with random encounters with party member and you selected attacks and stuff. And there were npcs that you could buy stuff from, etc. I'm sure theres more since I literally played for 5 minutes or so.

Considering the copyright was bought by the guy who originally made the series, it sounds like it'll be a good thing.

Game was a awsome text dependant type of game, loved that game even with all crashs from having so many glitchs.

Was hella fun till i fell in the sewer system and had been flushed down the river.

It was like most of the RPGs of the 80's. Very similar to Might and Magic...as it was first-person with slide-slow graphics and shoot/block combat system and a use on item system.

It can be downloaded from abandonware sites with a little googling.

That DOS game is even more buggy in windows than it ever was on my commie 64 cant play more than a minute without a crash.

Whom ever does go out of their way to try the game out for themselve you need the story booklet that came with wasteland the dialog for the game is in that booklet.

Just tried to get this thing to work again and it does this time, had to install my download to floppy and use a hard disk to get it to work.

Copying the story right now and looking up hints off the web.
