Default Moon Cube / Mystery Hut

https://earthsky.org/space/mystery-h...of-moon-china/

Quote:
‘Mystery hut’ on the far side of the moon

China’s Yutu 2 rover has been crawling across the lunar surface since landing on the far side of the moon on January 3, 2019. On December 3, 2021, it logged a strange entry in its Yutu No. 2 Driving Diary. It spied a cube-shaped object on the horizon.

CNSA gave the cube the informal nickname of the ‘mystery hut.’ They estimate the cube at approximately 262 feet (80 m) from the rover’s location.

Orbital view from NASA’s LRO of the Chang’e 4 lander (in square) and the ‘mystery hut’ object (arrow) on the edge of a crater about 260 feet (80 meters) away.

Zoomed-in orbital view from NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) of what may be the ‘mystery hut’ on the edge of the crater (small bright spot).

Notably, it appears to be roughly cube-shaped, although it is difficult to determine the true shape due to the small size of the object in the image. Right now, it is only a few pixels wide. There seems to be a dark spot in the middle of the object, or it may be two smaller objects close together.

The rover team, of course, wants to get a closer look at the object, and Yutu 2 will now start driving toward it. Rovers on the moon and Mars are slow, however, and it will take about 2-3 lunar days (2-3 Earth months) to get there.
Interesting!

Even so, I don't buy the black arrow location.

That thing should have shadows similar to the lander's shadows.

Found the map that you can zoom:

http://lroc.sese.asu.edu/posts/1092

Nothing looks like a big boulder. Only a lander casts a correct shadow.

But maybe that thing is actually tiny, much smaller than a lander.

I saw a response that said "It looks like it's the building where they faked the moon landings."

Maybe it's the size of a mini-fridge rather than a house.

That would explain why it's not visible from orbit.
