We've got a realtor in Ohio now, so we're starting to actively look for houses there. We'll need to have a contingent offer in before we close on our house here, since the leaseback is only for 30 days. After 30 days they will charge us $150 per day, so we definitely want to be out on time. The next two months are going to be a whirlwind.

Got preapproved yet again tonight, we'll be good to go. Going to send the wife to Ohio in the end of the month, assuming everything is going well with closing, and maybe we'll be able to put an offer down then.

Think we may have found our house, we've already looked at the seller disclosure, gonna send the realtor out to do a video walkthrough and possibly put an offer in before Anneka goes out there to check out houses on the 21st. If we put an offer in she'll be able to check it out and see what she thinks shortly after.

So, you're putting in an offer and willing to walk away from the good-faith payment if she sees something she doesn't like? How much on offer acceptance are we talking about?

We've had $500 and $1000 option fee offered on our current house, the one that we accepted had the $1000. Not concerned with that much, I also don't think we'd find anything that would cause us to back out. Our realtor is looking in to why the pending sale in November fell through, that may give some clarity.

Within an hour from Cleveland is what we've zeroed in on. We've got a lot of other houses, wife will check them out from the 21st to the 24th in person. I'm staying home to take care of our dogs.

Wife is on the way to Ohio right now, a house we really like came on the market last night and I was able to get her trip rescheduled for a minimal upcharge. She'll look at several houses while there.

Another house we're majorly interested in came on market last night, my wife is scheduled to see it today at 4. Ticks literally every box, and is a asking great price. I imagine we come up some from the ask, maybe use an escalation clause.

Intel is reportedly planning to build a large chip facility in New Albany, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus, the state capital. An official announcement is expected on January 21.

They accepted our offer, we're under contract. Close on Feb 18th, 2 weeks after we close on the sale of our Texas house.

We have 30 days of leaseback written into the sale of our Austin house. Doesn't even cost us anything either.

I imagine getting something like that would probably depend on the buyer's situation - if they were selling their property too or not.

Yeah exactly. It's not always possible but it's definitely a nice thing to be able to do.

My last day at the day job is going to be February 4th. Got the 2nd PODS container scheduled to arrive on that day as well, and both will arrive in Ohio by February 23rd. If we wind up loading the second container quicker than expected we can probably move that back a couple days too.

Had a bad experience with PODS that I thought I'd share. When we last moved back in 2015 we were selling our current property and buying and moving to our new property on the same day. We scheduled a POD to be picked up on that exact closing date, and everything was all set. Two days before the closing I called PODS customer service to confirm it will definitely be picked up on that date, and to my disappointment they were having a driver shortage and also extremely busy and would not be able to pick it up for another two weeks! I was furious. Had to get my realtor to inform the buyers and ask if they were OK with leaving the POD on the property for an extra two weeks after the closing, and they said nope we have to get it out of there on the promised date. We told them there was nothing we could do and thankfully they ended up letting us leave it there - if we paid them $2000.

I called PODS again several times letting them know the situation, and trying to get some kind of reimbursement but they kept telling me the pick up dates were not guaranteed. They basically screwed me with no recourse. I'll never use that **** company again.

The top everything else off, that same closing day I had parked my car in front of my parents' house for the day because I had to drive a moving truck and my car got vandalized by some asshole kids. Smashed every window and dented up both sides. Was just a horrible day overall but after that everything else went great.
