Yeah I remember the main story line being rather short for an RPG. Less than 20 hours I would say.

But a ton of side quests, which you're intended to do. You don't HAVE to, but the expectation is that you'll do many of them.

I did find that some seemed like placeholders for larger, more extravagant, fleshed out side adventures.

There are at least as many others that are very good and well worth pushing through the trash quests to find. Witcher 3 was 90/10 on these. Cyberpunk is 50/50 at best.

I do want to replay it again someday. I know they've made some enhancements since I played it at release.

Also I was so disgusted at the game I never really explored all the side content. If there are good side quests like some say I want to check them out.

Some of the side quests are better than anything the main storyline contains.

I think one of the biggest mistakes that cdpr did was to give the filler sidequests the same icon as the good ****.

I bet a bunch of people gave up on doing the sidequests and just mainline the main quest because of that.

Admittedly yeah that's probably me. I gave up early on checking out side stuff, and just stuck to main quest mostly. I think by that point though I was just resigned to the fact the game was not that great, or at least not what I had hoped for, so I just rushed through it.

The character side quests like Judy, Panam, etc were definitely worth doing. Those were on par quality wise with the main quest.

I believe many of them impact the ending as well, based on how much you grow your relationship with those characters.

For me the side stuff took 3/4 of the game time, the main quest is really short, and if you skip characters, you're really missing out on the best ****.

OK so when you guys were saying "side quests" being as good as the main you were just talking about the character quests. Those werent what I was referring to when I talked about crap side quests in this game. I actually consider them almost part of the main story.

All the small filler side quests is what I'm talking about. Most of that stuff was garbage. Compared to their Witcher 3 game, where nearly every side quest down to the most minor fetch quest was actually pretty good with well thought out lore and morals and usually connected to the main story somehow.

There are still some decent non-companion side quests. The cyberpsychosis one seems straightforward on its surface, but does have an eventual payoff, for example.

Many were ok. There were a couple I noted that you could solve a couple of different ways... choosing to sell a guy in a trunk or release him. It's not obvious you have a choice, but it's there. Whether it has any long-term impacts on the game, I'm not entirely sure. Might have pissed off certain groups if you let him go.

The chain with the sentient car was kinda fun.

There were others.

If we're talking about police activity and that stuff, no, those are basically just random things inserted into the game to make it look like things were going on.
