I am still up in the air about picking up a PS5, I will definitely be picking up the Xbox series X as I have a free $300 coming from Microsoft rewards and I have Ultimate Game pass through 8/2022. I hardly have to buy any games if I dont want to. Where as if I pick up a PS5 right now I will be putting out hundreds more for more games I dont play. I think PS5 I will be avoiding for a good while. I just dont play my games enough to justify all the cash I put into them, Including getting a new expensive graphics card this year.

A lot of 5 min. work daily for the last 2 years, I quit spending my points when I heard a new xbox was coming out and now have $300 worth of points to spend at the Microsoft store. That’s the same way I got my game pass ultimate through 8/2022. Although I think MS is getting ready to finally nerf it from what I am hearing lately.

Totally agree - most of the games they announced are coming to PC, where I would play them. Sony has far better exclusives than Microsoft does IMHO.

It maybe true that PS5 has some great exclusives but game pass with Xbox and pc can’t be beat for the value, your going to spend a hell of a lot more on the PS5 long term then the series x. I don’t see Sony doing the same thing, they want all your monies

I have had game pass for a while and definitely it delivered the goods in terms of games like Forza, Gears and Halo but really beyond that they have nothing that interests me. Most of the game pass games have been hit or miss with the only other one that stood out for me was Outer Worlds. I am ok to remain subbed to game pass but why keep the console is still something to be seen. Most of the stuff on game pass that never made it to PC wasn’t worth squat to me. Even Nier Automata, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy XV and other games I thought I will play through never quite worked for me.

If you're playing on PC you are wasting your money as the Series X will be as powerful or moreso than pretty much 99% of PC players rigs at a fraction of the cost

PC = PC gamer master race weapon of choice.
Xbox X = closed box PC for console peasants.
Xbox S = Lesser closed box PC for cheap console peasants.
Xbox one = Lowest cost box for welfare console peasants.

Except we wont be wasting our money because as soon as we buy a next gen Nvidia it will be more powerful than xbox, then the next year after that they will be even more powerful.

We will have better graphics and performance, but at the cost of money. Just like everything else in life.

People will upgrade, or they will wait for next year or the year after and get cheaper newer parts that will blow consoles out of the water just like every generation. That's not a atagonistic view thats just facts, however I can see why people like to play on console as PC gaming isn't a cheap hobby.

Plus you know KAC was talking about first party games not third party. Of course 3rd party will play best on Xbox, but the first party is majorly lacking.

If you're fine paying $1000+ for just a graphics card to get a few more fps or a few more special effects then thats fine, but the value of top end PC hardware is garbage. I got out of PC gaming many years ago and haven't regretted it a single bit.

I'm so glad I've moved on from PC gaming. Prices are out of control with the hardware.

I like kicking back and playing on my TV and not fussing about with settings etc. Did take a while to get used to using a controller with FPS games but I've gotten way better.

Xbox X has been great and I'll have XSX day one.

Well, the more time I have to let it sink in, the less I care about the graphics. Sure, it needed to look better, but honestly as long as the gameplay and story is solid I'll still buy it and play the neck out of it.

Halo5 sucks, btw, so there is no guarantee here.

So I've been predicting for awhile now that the new consoles will be making a play to compete more with PC gaming, and that this will require fast framerates and m+k support. We've seen a bit of movement on this front with xbox finally allowing some m+k support over the last couple of years, albeit for a limited selection of games.

So they've just announced m+k support on xbox for the master chief collection, plus cross-play, which is actually kindof huge. I assume Halo Infinite will have m+k support too. https://www.polygon.com/2020/8/3/213...keyboard-mouse

This basically means that for Halo, you can stick a new xbox on your work desk and have the full PC experience... and heck you can do it with an old xbox too, and get the same experience with lower image quality.

So there's already some notable games that support m+k on xbox. I've bolded the ones that are particularly interesting for me. I think I may hook my old xbox one to my desktop monitor and try it out just to get a feel for the experience.

Of course that's still a small list, and I wish that Doom & Doom Eternal were on it... I suspect that Doom Eternal will get an enhanced patch for the nextgen consoles, and maybe we'll get m+k support then?

Another thought: ms been doing amazing things with their backwards compatibility efforts, and nowadays it's not unthinkable that they could start bringing in m+k support through their bc program. It'd be neat to see them offer good m+k support for old xbox360 games that we never would have expected... especially if they can also bump up the framerates.

16:9 and 120hz is soo 2019, 16:10/16:10 ultrawide at 144hz+ is what matters in 2020.



It would be cool if the new consoles had UWQHD/UWQHD+ support, ultrawide is more immersive than 4k.
