![]() I want to overclock my 9700pro. I have never done it before. I am using the Omega drivers which come with an overclock utiilty. However, I am not sure what are "safe" numbers to use. A little help in this area would be appreciated. Thanks |

Next, on the overclocking tab of it, you just bump the sliders up to the desired speed. A lesson I learned from everyone here is to go a little at a time. If you read someone's post that says, "I'm running 400/375!" and try to bounce your own card right up to that speed, you could damage your card for good. With my card I started going up 5MHz at a time, let it settle for a day, then go another 5 and so on. I've ended up hitting 360/340 so far, which is the highest I ever got and with air cooling no less. I had hit 370/345 when I started getting artifacts after gaming for an hour, so I just backed it down and it (and me) seems to be happy there. Plus, I hit 17909 in 3Dmark2001se, which is also the highest number I ever got. ![]() If you want to get hardcore, then you start crossing into higher voltages, volt-mods, watercooling and a host of other things that I'm not interested in so you'd have to talk to someone else. But the above should help you get going. Enjoy! Edit: I forgot to add, I'm using Omega's drivers too and I didn't care for the tweak utility in it. It kept "shutting off" on me all the time. I used to swear by Rivatuner also, but since discovering Rage3dTweak, it's all you need. Also, if you're a gamer, it has a bunch of game profiles built into it, where you can force the game to run at your specific settings automatically when you start the game up. Nice feature!

![]() Radclocker and if you don't have artifacts, you're still "safe" ![]()

Since you're on your way with the 9700, have you tried O/C'ing your IS7 yet? I just got mine to 3.2GHz last night and am going to shoot for higher tonight. I had the worst time with it, with all the settings and GAT, but thanks to a couple of guys at Abit I got it cranked right up with GAT on Street Racer no less! Right now my memory is at 214 on the FSB and I know it will go to 233 before it starts acting up, the FSB itself is at 265, 5:4. I'm running a new Volcano 7+ for the HSF, so I'm curious to see what that will take too. Mark

![]() The highest I have managed to get mine is 275 FSB @ 5:4 with memory set to 2-2-3-5 and Turbo. I managed a 17,576 3DMark score with that. The highest I was able to get @ 1:1 is 220 FSB 2-2-3-6/Turbo. I know it would go higher but the memory maxed out there. I have seen what the mobo/cpu will do overclocked on 3Dmark, now I want to overclock the Radeon to see if I can break 18,000. |
