Default Final fantasy 1 and 2 on PSP

Hey guys,

I've been getting into final fantasy hardcore recently, playing ff7/8 on the ps2 and playing crisis core on PSP (which is amazing)

Now I wanna get ff1/2 for the psp but i'm conflicted. I heard mixed reviews on it, that the random encounters which are quite often (that's annoying) and that the story/gameplay is way too simple?

I really wanna play the games, cuz later i will get a DS and play the other ff's, but if the game really sucks bad I don't wanna waste my money.

So i ask, has anyone played ff1/2, how did you find it? worth 20 bucks each? good replay value? lemme know please!

I remember playing FF1 long long ago on the actual nintendo console and remember it being so crappy and difficult to get anywhere. Its really not worth it unless they tweaked the hell out of it.

Wasn't FF2 released in the US as FF4? My friend got FF4 for the DS and says its really fun. He seems to enjoy it along with the added bonus games on there.

Theres rumors of a new DS coming out so you should wait until it comes out so you're not out of the loop.

I have FF1 for the PSP, and I already played dozens of hours to the point where my level is too high for any kind of random encounter, so when a battle pops up, I am not even worried. Just attack attack then it is over and I go on wandering about. But that is exactly my problem: even though I always played RPGs and love them, I am totally stuck in FF1! I keep going around and around the world killing stuff and leveling up and can't find the next step in the storyline. The story was really simple and straightforward until now. But now even after I resorted to gamefaqs (*ashamed*) I simply can't go on!

Absolutely no spoilers here, but: the faq tells me I need to buy a certain item from a certain place. But there's no such item at the place! I did everything prior to that but still no item.

Oh well, I'll try harder someday.

So, my opinion: the game is fun, has pretty graphics for a 2d remake, is kinda shallow, but worth it if you like Final Fantasy games and want to live the story that started it all when Squaresoft was a tiny company. Much much better than playing the old versions on an emulator for sure.

other way around, japan ff4 was released as ff2 on the snes, out of the first 6 final fantasy games, america originally got 1, 4, and 6 (nes and ff2/3 on snes) we missed out on 2, 3, and 5 on their first run on the original systems

You just motivated me to get the game, thanks! I know how you feel about gamefaqs, i hate looking up hints/tips makes me feel like i'm cheating I was reading a few reviews on the game, and basically i came across something that mentions asking a dancing girl in the city if you're stuck or something, I dunno! well good luck with it..

I'll get it after i beat crisis core.

tried them on GBA and they're way too primitive for my tastes...

1-4 are the best of the series. The later games are too emo teenie-bopper soap operas.

I highly recommend FF1 for the PSP.. quite simply one of the best remakes I have ever played. IMO its definitely easier then the original FF1. Which is quite sad IMO. I've always felt they should leave the difficulty to these remakes the way they are. You definitely got your moneys worth with the games in the 80s and throughout the 90s. To many ppl are spoiled by todays auto-saves and reload options (oh wait!!! I just got hit, lemme go ahead and reload the last file i saved 10 seconds ago ) I don't understand why ppl want there games easy. Really boggles the mind. I thought ppl want there moneys worth? Even if the difficulty was left the way they were, the games would STILL be easier today then they were before because of access to the internet.

Anyway, FF1 for the PSP is again, one of the best remakes I've ever played. Fantastic redone music from the original FF1, high res graphics along with added additions that I won't mention. I've never gotten FF2 for the PSP so I won't mention anything about that.

What to you is formidable, to others is just really hard. Its really all it is.

Grinding is boring for a lot of people. A great RPG makes grinding at least somewhat fun. FF VII, for example
