Whats your HT rig?... (pics please)
awesome forum btw :)
so, what you got? pics would be nice also if you have them, i dont have any but this is what i have currently: Sony KV-27HS420 27" HDTV Marantz DV6400 DVD-A/SACD Player Marantz SR7500 AVR B&W 601 S3 Front B&W LCR60 S3 Center B&W DM600 S3 Surround Velodyne SPL800-II 8" subwoofer i think i'm going to wait until HDTV's become more standard before i upgrade mine, its serving me well right now though. |

nice sub... i have the velodyne cht-10 10" sub and it is the best thing I've ever bought |
- Samsung TXN2745FP 27" EDTV (hacked into an HDTV)
- Pioneer VSX-D912K A/V receiver - JBL EC35 center - 4 JBL N24II's (fronts, rears) - Dayton "Tiny Mighty II" 10" PE sub (superb price/performance... useable output to 25Hz) - Panasonic S35S progressive scan DVD player - Samsung SIR-T451 OTA HDTV receiver ![]() |

what else you got? you are obviously a man with taste :) |

how do you like those JBL speakers? my sister might get some since they are right in her budget. |
Man all that is like a couple grand right there.

The JBL's are really nice. The Northridge (N and E) series has a great price/performance ratio. Excellent highs and super clear midrange (if she goes for the E series she'll definately want the EC35 center over the EC25). Lows go to around 75-80Hz with my particular speakers. A subwoofer is a must though to flesh out the lowend. Seeing as how she's on a budget I'd recommend the same sub I have. It's on sale right now. Not a looker but it sure gets the job done. You really have to hear it to be convinced that you get get that kind of bang for your buck. As far as my total system price goes, I'd estimate it at around $1800-$2000. Worth every penny. |

thanks for the suggestion on the sub, i think she will hold off on the sub and go with towers or something, unlike me, she likes her neighbors, lol. i figure that all of my stuff cost me $4k or so, so sad how fast that stuff adds up (was going for a simple hifi system and ended up with all the above, i'm messed up). |
Here's my setup. I'm still stuck in the basement because my dad is too cheap to recarpet my computer room after I tore it up and repainted :(
![]() remotes are sitting on top of my pc case and monitor is to the left. TV is hooked up with ATI component adapter and I have component for gamecube and xbox too obviously :) |

also, how is that center staying on top of the TV, is the top flat or is there a trick to it? |
Quote:
The speakers are cheap quest qt66 left/right and ive got quest center and rears but I forget their model#s. I bought tv,receiver, speakers all at once and I'm a college student so I couldn't really afford the best speakers :) These babies still sound good though. Also, I took back the dvd player since my PC plays dvds and more (and still digital sound) and got myself a satellite receiver instead. |

nice stuff though, i kinda wish i got a widescreen tv, all my dvd's are WS and with 720p and 1080i being widescreen resolutions, its only natural. oh well, live and learn. |
I have two, the one in bedroom started out basic with a 7500 AIW and old PC with a stereo receiver and as my leftovers got better it ended up an actual 5.1 setup.
Main HT HTPC: Asus K8V AMD 64 3200+ 768MB DDR 3200 2X Seagate 200MB EIDE drive Pioneer 106 DVD -R/+R Liteon DVD ROM/CDRW AIW 9700 Creative Audigy 2 ZS Antec Overture HTPC case Zalman Reserator with CPU and GPU blocks Non PC hardware: Denon AVR3801 Panasonic 5 Disc changer (DVD Audio capable but connected via optical digital so not used for DVD Audio) Toshiba SACD/DVD Audio 5 disc changer (used only for audio, the unit is a peice of crap but has great sound and was inexpensive) ancient Technics 60 disc CD changer 4 JBL HLS 610s and HLS center, Infinity 10" powered sub, Sony 12" powered sub ( the Infinity is okay, the Sony was a pretty budget unit but together after a lot of adjusting they sound fine, I love the JBL HLS speakers with all my heart, haven't given a thought to upgrading speakers since I got them years ago) Zenith 27" HDTV (I want a big screen dammit!) Pretty happy with the setup except I want a big screen and the crap Guide+ software ruins how nice the MMC updates have been. I have been dealing with the Guide+ disappearing cursor bug since my AIW 7500 in many different boxes and finally have come to the conclusion that I will never buy another AIW no matter how much I like the hardware, tried every fix and always keep my software and drivers up to date and for three years the bug just keeps coming. . I watch DVDs almost exclusively from the HTPC, I use the 5 Disc Panasonic for TV series discs and the Toshiba for Audio. With the Reserator my HTPC is inaudible, a goal that took a bit of effort to attain, every silent air-cooling solution I tried ran too hot in the cramped Antec HTPC case, it was fine with air cooling and my original P4 2.4 but it wouldn’t handle low noise/silent air cooling at all with a P4 3.0 533MHz FSB Northwood and was only a bit better with the A64. Bedroom HT HTPC: ASUS P4TE P4 2.4 @ 2.67 512MB RDRAM 2x 200MB Seagate EIDE drives (have become a big fan of Seagate, 5 year warranty too) Pioneer 106 DVD -R/+RW Samsung DVD ROM/CDRW ATI 9700 Pro, Audigy 2 Hauppauge blackbird tuner card with Sage TV (bought as bundle) Coolermaster Aluminum case Non PC hardware: Sony STR-DE897 Receiver (pretty happy with this under 300 dollar unit, has two sets of Analog-ins so I can connect both the Pioneer and HTPC via analog for 5.1 audio formats and proper use of Audigy 2) Pioneer DV-563A DVD Audio/SACD (very nice budget unit IMO) Very old but still loved Polk mini-monitors Front L/R, Polk CS1 Center, Wharfedale Bipole surrounds, 2 slaved Klipsch SWS subs Walmart special Toshiba 20" "normal" TV Heh, I love my bedroom rig, having surround for the bed is pretty nice, couldn't be more pleased with the Sage TV/tuner card combo, it feels and works like a TIVO is connected to my TV not a PC, all works without fuss from my universal remote. The PC is leftovers from my old main PC and feel it is kind of a waste of a still decent PC as it really is rarely used for anything but recording and watching broadcasts. If/when I ever manage a big screen for my main HT, I will put the HDTV in the bedroom. Setup is used a lot for SACD/DVD audio playback, has a decent sound. |
Samsung TXN2745FP 27" EDTV (can't unlock 1080i because I have a newer one)
Sony STR-K750P 5.1 receiver ![]() ![]() The speakers aren't the biggest but the room is so small that it doesn't matter. Surround games and movies sound awesome. ![]() ![]() |
Post your HT setup (or whatever you have)
|
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry for the poor quality, equipment is in sig. |
nice setups. but firstar you know you have your sub on top of a dresser of some sort? as well as the port is being blocked by the vertical ps2? (doesn't your dresser/armoise/furniture as well as your ps2 rattle when watching films)

Any chance of making this a sticky like the "Post Pics of your Rig" in General Hardware?
Good Job  |

i'm planning on getting the denon avr-1705 reciever and a polk center. i have alot more dvd's but keep them at my girlfriends house cause it's boring over there.
|
Heh..
I checked back to see if anyone responded to my thread, and then two threads got merged.. hehe.. Otherwise.. My stuff right now is my monitor, which is nice somewhat, but I'd like to have my monitor back. Long story, but essentially I was borrowing my neighbors 19" CRT, until he had the money to fix his rig. Got it fixed last night, and now this is my monitor until I can purchace another, or get my other back from the other neighbors who put it in storage. |
![]() My home theatre's in my room. Energy e:xl-S12 Subwoofer 12” Sony 27” FD Trinitron WEGA TV Denon AVR-4802 Yamaha NS-A 505 Loud Speakers Yamaha MS-A75 Surround Sound Jamo Center 160 Xbox GameCube Planning to upgrade to hdtv soon when I have the money and room for it. |
Damn, everyone has a better TV than me. I'm stuck with a 27" Magnavox from 8 years ago (or more). No flat screen, no digital comb filters, not even an S-Video input... :p
|
Here's mine. Slowly upgrading it as I get money to put towards it. I started out with a Home Theater in a Box from Yamaha that came with the receiver, sub, and speakers. I since added those floor speakers, also Yamaha, which were on sale at Futureshop last summer. Sound is decent, but I need more powerful surrounds and a better center.
The TV is a Sony 32" KV-32HS510 HDTV. It's got a DVI input on the back which I use to connect the HTPC (bottom of the TV stand, specs are Burn in my sig). I was thinking about getting a better DVD player, but the one I have (crappy progressive scan RCA that came as a freebie with the TV) will do until HD-DVD players come out next year. The only thing I really regret is not getting a widescreen TV when I had the chance. ![]() |
Pioneer NS-DV99, dont have any pictures of my own, sorry. It supports DD5.1/DTS/SACD/DVDAUDIO yadda yadda. Its my first real stereo so to me it sounds like a dream ;) I only had crappy computer speakers like the MS Digital Sound System. The subwoofer makes my whole apartment rattle which is quite wonderful :D
![]() I also have a Panasonic 32inch Widescreen Quintrix TV but all the connections except the antenna is broken so its pretty useless ;) |
No matter how many thread i see like this, i never get tired of looking other setups :)
I`ll post my humble system... but since i`m in Argentina is really hard to get Half of what u guys have... so don`t laugh! |
I don't have a HT setup right now.
Just a crappy DVD player, a crappy 27" picture tube, and a crappy 270 watt 5.1 speaker system which I can't even put the rear speakers behind me because my bed is against the wall. |
