There are plenty of places and opportunities to use that kind of power, at least in the US. Some areas have more opportunities than others. They just aren't on public roads on the way to work or the grocery store.

of course there are racetracks, but i meant "normal" places.

For some of us, race tracks are normal. ;)

If you're just talking about regular public streets, then I agree...there isn't really a need for more than 200hp in anything. You can get in just as much trouble with 200hp as you can with 600hp if you're determined to drive fast straight or in turns.

But, there ARE opportunities to use all that power. Drag strips, race tracks, and there have been mile and 1/2 mile racing events popping up all over the country since 2011 or so. Hell, in Nebraska and a few other places they close off public roads for road race events that take place over 50mi or so and you can average up to 140MPH if you're properly accepted/licensed. It's a great time to have a lot of power. :p

I will say that people don't spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on cars for the horsepower, they do it for the exclusivity. Offering a lower version of the same "looking" car at a mass production level will devalue the "exotic" tier level.

Most kit cars suck and the nice ones still cost >75K.

You would think with today's 3D printing and other fabricating tech that the market would be flooded with nice kit cars at reasonable cost but that doesn't seem to be the case.

You know, something similar to the Fiero to Ferrari kits of old but tons better quality through today's resources.

The nice ones are built like exotics. The cheap ones, are well built cheap. You aren't going to get $200k build quality at $25k.

There are some great kits out there. I've seen some really good ones running around but they aren't typically "cost effective" once you factor in the donor parts, unless you have a lot of spare time (or you enjoy projects) which avoids labor costs.

the unit is tied down nicely....

I wonder if they are relying on the unit weight and downforce to keep it on the actual trailer...…..

Remember this? Was pretty trick at the time. A hot chick from my high school drove this, she got tons of looks.

Looks like a Daytona Turbo Z CS. My dad owned the Laser XT, I remember sitting in the back seat with him flying down the roads near base. These cars had erratic wastegate issues, either stuck open, or stuck closed. Our was stuck closed, damn thing would boost to the moon, it would bury the needle at 15 psi and felt like a rocket at the time. That is until the head gasket blew, like they always do....

Later on I found and almost bought a 92' Daytona IROC R/T, an insanely rare car. I was literally shaking and having butterfly stomach when looked at it, unfortunately it didn't drive right and I knew something was wrong. That's when my soul got sucked out when inspected the underbody, it had been wrecked and a repair attempt had been made. I almost cried on the way home.
