What console if you can only have one?

Say you don't have a gaming PC and want to have just one gaming console. Would you go with the PlayStation 5 or the Xbox Series X?

Honestly with the current line-up of exclusives, it barely matters. There's very little difference between the PS5 & xbox.

I have the xbox live supreme master-race pass, which is an incredible value if you like your games Netflix-style. So for that, I'd tip the advantage toward xbox.

If you opened it up beyond just series x & ps5, I might choose my Saturn right now, as I'm kindof nerding out on that game library.

I think the choice is between the Playstation exclusives, and the Microsoft Game Pass. Personally, I prefer the quality of Sony's exclusive franchises over Microsoft's high quantity of "good but not fantastic" games. Even though many games are basically PS4 games brought over, I wouldn't want to do without Ghosts of Tsushima, The Last of Us, Uncharted and several others.

I don't know, I do like the playstation exclusives, but MS owning bethesda, obsidian, and inxile makes them the publisher with the games that I spend the most time on.

What PS5 exclusives are there so far, besides Horizon 2 & the Spiderman expansion? imo, this is probably the slowest generation for exclusives, across both xbox & playstation ecosystems.

I’m pretty much PS all the way because of their exclusives, but 2 things to keep in mind if there’s going to be a PC for you/them in the future.

1. Sony is porting many games to PC now.
2. My experience might not be the best to go by. I don’t buy many games and can get hundreds of hours out of each title I do buy. Usually Souls/Nioh type games.

I'd lean towards Playstation because of the exclusives and the controller. And Sony's updated version of PlayStation Plus is pretty good.

When I am ready to buy one next year, probably a PS5. If I were to buy one today, it would be Series X as that's all you can find in Winnipeg with any reliability

I used to think this as well, heck I used this "reason" for buying an Xbox Series X.

But seriously, given how I will get a pretty beefed up PC in the coming months, how much use is getting another console for it really?

At least the Playstation has some exclusives not available on PC.

PS5. Exclusives are still worth playing. Get game pass on PC. I haven’t turned on my XSX since August I think.

PS5 mainly because I grew up Playstations. So who knows If I’d be on the other side if things had been different. But yeah, very true about better exclusives. I’ve racked up so many hours on Uncharted and Last of us.

PS5 I've invested too much into it to consider anything else. Especially being able to play all my PS4 games on it , PSVR 1@2 ect.

Having both systems with both "full tier" subs, I go Xbox.
I'm not sure why, but the kids gravitate towards it more, even though I can put a lot of the same games on either thanks to the subs, and they're part of the equation for me.

If it was just me, then it's a much tougher choice. PS5 top sub gets A LOT of good games across a wide span of generations. The problem though is that it relies heavily on streaming instead of emulation so if you're in a place without good infra that does you no good.
The Xbox wins a bit in its favor by having a Sony game (MLB The Show) on it's Game Pass where even with a top PS+ sub you don't get it on PS5.

Both have great exclusive offerings IMO, so its really what platform has more of what you want for a price you're willing to pay.

Xbox, but I have had close to 15 to 20 years worth of gaming investment in Xbox. I find that multiplayer functionality is more robust on Xbox. Also my kid has been playing a crapload of game pass stuff and frankly there are a lot of overlooked games that I have been surprized by.

Xbox One. Got it very cheap (like 50% discounted). Have the Kinetic camera... the kids love Just Dance.

But latest Just dance don't work on XO anymore. And I'm not paying for a new one (expect if I can get it very cheap)
